636's and their faulty exhaust design.

Everybody knows when you've got a stocker can hacked down.. the first thing to hit the ground when you drop it is that damned exhaust. I've destroyed two mint shorty stockers and want to know what you guys do to prevent any exhaust damage. Motogp style? Aftermarket slip on that stays out of the way?

Re: 636's and their faulty exhaust design.

either weld the band/metal strap that goes around it or get an aftermarket one...

and yeah an SI subcage will help too!!!

i sometimes use a car muffler clamp at the header/midpipe junction to help hold it on tight also

I think so too. Lighter too so the ****** isn't always falling off the header. I have a stocker cut down to the exhaust strap. Looked sick for the first few days and now it's haggard again.

Oval it is!

its a freaking stuntbike! why do you care so much about how your bikes exhaust looks? and you cant say it affects performance cause at a max of 30mph horsepower and torque aint an issue

not everyone out there wants a beat to **** lookin stuntbike, theres plenty of people that try to keep thier stuntbikes lookin half way decent.

on my 05 R6 where the exhaust strap wrapped around and bolted to the pass peg bracket i used a leftover frame slider i had and bolted it on where the clamp is. my bike flipped 6 times at 45mph from a bad coaster and barely even touched the pipe at all and that was a carbon 2bros, its a cheap idea but worked for me

Thanks

I did this for this exact reason, I killed 2 Akro cans and was gettign tired of destroying my cans....Now it doesnt matter what side I drop the bike on it is impossible for the can to touch down...

Re: 636's and their faulty exhaust design.

it doesn't interfere with your tire at all, say like coming down from a stoppie the suspension compresses a lot does it ever hit? great idea for sure

When I put on a BRAND NEW tire it will just rub a tinny bit when I come down hard on stoppies or if I jump ****....Once the tire is broken in some it doesnt touch at all...And I could have used a much smaller round or oval can that wouldnt have touched ever, but I really wanted to use Akros new HEX can.....
