stunting with 'stock' gearing???

does anyone out there stunt with fairly stock gearing? like -1/+2? i recently put a +2 on my bike bc come to find out i was missing about 15 teeth. i only rode it a few times with it -1/+2, and i noticed i could chase wheelies better. but i want to learn slow stuff in the spring, but id really rather not have a huge sprocket and be zinging at 9k going 75mph.

SO.

anyone stunt with conservative gearing like that? any tips?

or do i just have to be cool and get a +10????

Re: stunting with 'stock' gearing???

Im Rolling -1 In The Front And A Stock Rear On My 06 636, Im Going To Try To Stay Somewhat Close To That While I Shake The Rust Off. Im Coming Back From A Compound Tib And Fib Break So My Skills Arent Back To Where They Were, But Regular Circles And Basic Slow Rolls Are No Problem. Mild Gears That Can Be Used For The Lot And The Street Is The Only Way To Go, **** Riding In One And Not The Other

it means that that was a dumb *** comment about the "cheating" from big sprockets. And u live in squidville, cuz u just don't know.

Re: stunting with 'stock' gearing???

lol @ helium. ok, idk about calling it cheating, but i would believe that it is a lot harder to go slow and not stall with lower gearing.

Re: stunting with 'stock' gearing???

I likee big sprokeee :YEAH :YEAH

why is it cheating?? seems like it's a chest beater to say you rock stock gears but if everyone did it that says they do it, i don't think there'd be half the sponsors there are. not that no one ever has, but you see everyone with a fully stunted out S.F. tellin everyone not to gear or use a handbrake?? Kinda like....."ya know, when I was in school........"

Re: stunting with 'stock' gearing???

i know what squid comments mean, but the guy backed me in one post, then reversed it in another. i wasnt sure where he was comming from.

and there is a difference between being a beginner and being a squid.

this quy is calling me a squid bc i am wondering if anyone uses lower gearing opposed to huge +12 or +15 sprockets?

yO dudz, wat koo parts can i use to do whoolies and stooopiez bettar? 'n i nevar use a helmat or jacket bc thats not coo. and i luv goin 95 thru rush hour traffic.

is that squid enough?

Re: stunting with 'stock' gearing???

maybe it just seems to me that people run and get huge sprockets even before they can clutch a wheelie and find bp...

sorry for the drama, i was just wanted to know if i was alone with this thought.

plus i drive from rochester to buffalo a lot so a huge sprocket wouldnt be too fun for that.

OMR kills it with the stock gearing!
i run a +9 on my 636 and have no problems and its not too bad on the highway

man point is it don't matter ok. i run around all day long on the highway on +10.

here is the other argument. OMR kills it on stock gearing.

you lose a little topend. it makes it a little easier to clutch **** up.

+1
and makes it a little easyer for you to learn, why make **** harder than it already is. when you become as old as OMR and earned yourself enough gangsta stripes then you too can rock stock

Re: stunting with 'stock' gearing???

ok, i really appreciate the OMR reference (no scarcasm)

but i didnt ask for arguments on which is better, i just never heard of anyone doing it before just now. and no doubt just going from -1/stock to -1/+2 made a noticable difference.
