Think this F4i tank will dent OK?
Re: Think this F4i tank will dent OK?
man, my tank dent job is so shitty...lol I have a yellow tank that is a little dented up, not creased, that I would sell you for pretty cheap. I bought it to dent in and after trying it out, the fuel pump didn't work....lol EBAY! So when i took out the fuel pump to put mine in and it was slightly rusty inside the tank and had some nasty smellin gas in it, so i said **** it and dented my stock tank
Someone told em that you can get the rust out somehow...IDK! If you are interested let me know

wasn't try to talk **** man, that dent is super gangster....just saying you might have a little trouble getting that for it...but ebay is the ****...can double whatever you'd get for it on here on there
Answer is...NO!
Well it didn't really work out too well. I went to town on the RH side and I can tell now that I was hittin in some really wrong spots.
The side that was already smashed wasn't moving at all it seemed, so I just tryed pulling out the crease at the rear. Well between turning the concave into convex at the rear, I managed to cause a tear at the crease that formed. I siphoned what fuel was left and just started smashin to see what I could make the RH side look like. The crease that tore became smooth after a while but the gas-cap area was not movin down because of the prior smash holding it in place. So, now I know...it won't work LOL.
Here's a pic of the damage after I started...notice the tail area by the seat that I should not have been hitting...DOH! Well at least it was junk when I started.

I was messin with two diffrent dead-blow hammers. Not that the LH side was messed up before I even started.
The temp outside was around 45 or lower so I think that helped the paint shatter all over the place. After I knew that I messed up I was just pounding to see how the tank would react from diffrent hits.

Looks like manbearpig got a hold of it
Re: Think this F4i tank will dent OK?
The plastic part on your tank is where the airbox is so you cant do too much w/ it....
If you take your time and start just below the gas cap and work down and around from there it will come out just fine w/ the half tank.
Just don't try to go too deep.... you don't need a real deep dent anyway... just a decent lip in the back to catch your ***.

Yea... deadblow. Don't know what weight... not a very big one though.
Start just below the cap w/ a couple of real hard hits.... work outward (to each side) and downward toward the back from there smashing it lower and lower til you get the cap at the angle you see in my pics.
After you get the cap down and once you get towards the the outside edges and the back lip be VERY carfull and use lots of small light hits to shape the bowl.
