Re: good protection when stunting?

add shin guards......done

like the MX style ones, dont need anything super expensive either, mine are $25 Fox ones that I can wear under my jeans.

I have em, but never wear em, and my shins and knees pay for my laziness! Would be even worse if I had a shitty cage that hit my shins too!

good sturdy jeans, 100% cotton t-shirt, and some grippy flip flops.

+1 on a decent pair of knee and shin guards... I'm just about to get a pair of 661 Race pads because my "football" style EVS ones don't stay in place, are uncomfortable and do next to nothing to protect my knees!

Re: good protection when stunting?

+2 on the shin protectors, if you rock a Racing 905 cage, your shins will be hurting th next day, I myself have to invest in a pair. My friend has the Icon Field Armor ones, and loves them to death, simply because he has a 905 cage as well. Also, if you are learning new stunts, try rockin a cheap or maybe a motocross helmet so if you crash you don't wreck a $400-600 lid.

Re: good protection when stunting?

FrankieG, seeing as you test 661 gear I'll ask you if you don't mind ...

I need a back protector, I have a cheap armour vest suit but it sucks, doesn't fit me right and restricts my movement tooo much.. so I'm buying just a back protector.. I want one that will fit very well without noticing its on (so needs waist strap and shoulder straps)

this one looks very ideal and not too badly priced... have you tried this one out and what do you think of it?

Also after these knee guards, any good? lightweight enough for stunting? Think they are 2007 models and not in the 08 range but they look good from the pic? I'm fed up of my guards not fitting right and being uncomfy so want a set that fit like a sock so they can't move!!

Cheers!

Re: good protection when stunting?

I like the Icon shin guards, BUT I have huge calves from weight lifting and football and they wont fit over my calves. The 661 set looks nice, but my knees would sweat a ton if the top part didnt allow my skin to breath.

As for vest, I used to run an Icon vest all the time and was VERY happy with it! I even flipped an endo at around 20-30mph where the back seat landed right in the middle of my back......walked away a lil dazed! ER dock said I shoulda been paralyzed by that kinda impact. Was worth the $100 or whatever I paid for it! Need to get a new one since this one has since been demolished!

Re: good protection when stunting?

If you look on ebay, you can find some Icon field armor vest for as low as 80 bucks including shipping and everything, I found another company, I think it was kneedraggers.com or something where it only costed 90 bucks with free shipping. You have to have them send you an email quote, its relatively quick, so it is worth the saving of ten bucks:YEAH

Re: good protection when stunting?

I always stunt better with no gear on. I think it makes me more restricted and I have a greater chance of wrecking.

Don't get me wrong. I wear a helmet if I do anything other than circles, but I hate wearing it.

Re: good protection when stunting?

I stunt in my birthday suit....seems to work cus my nakedness scares all the squids away from the spot, thus making stunting far less dangerous!
