any hard compound tire.

just put 60 psi in it, it'll drift, if not get lower and throttle harder.

Maxxis SupperMax, and a 190 seems to slide easier than a 180.

Free ones are a big + but Michelin Pilot Roads are pretty sweet if you can get a cheap set.

Re: what are the best tires for drifting??

if you got it you can drift any tire. I've been driftin on a dunlop qualifier both left and right side drifts. only about 22 psi.

well obviously, but this threads not about who can drift what, its about what tires make it easiest

Re: what are the best tires for drifting??

I got an good e-mail about this from HAI. Here's what they said :

Front Pick #1
Metzeler M-3
Soft Compound provides superior stick for stoppies while smooth non-aggressive profile makes stoppies easier to control by the reliable handling characteristics it provides.

Front Pick #2
Michelin Pilot Power
Similar soft Compound allows you to pick up in any condition while the steeper profile provides faster more aggresive truning.

Rear Pick #1
Maxxis Supermaxx
Very similar to Pilot Road - Slightly harder compound makes it very easy to transition into drifting and burnouts while still be soft enough to pick up in any condition.

Rear Pick #2
Pirelli Pilot Road
Very similar to Maxxis Supermaxx - Compound is soft enough to stick to the ground during the fastest of the circles, while the low smooth profile of the tire makes transitioning through circle combos a breeze.

Re: what are the best tires for drifting??

i like the maxis in the rear. i tried running the qualifier and it seemed to role fasst as **** for some reason? i turned my idle down to like 2 and was still screaming into circles but it wasnt bad. i got a pilot road on now but i flipped a stoppie right after i put it on so i havent tried it yet. as for front Pitot Power! of i have heard good things about the m3. ill try that next.

Re: what are the best tires for drifting??

dont forget about the gearing, bigger sprock = more instant torque so if you got low gearing it will be harder to break traction i spose... just an idea, would make the tires and pressure different

HAHA you guys crack me up with the "scare my bike into doing things" line!!. hella funny

the tire I was using before this qualifier that was really fun but too slippery for fast circs, it was a dunlop 208, hard *** touring tire. that thing was like slipping around in water. but the qualifers grip good for fast circs, smoke nice and give a good aggressive acceleration will still laid over driftin on the rev limiter. lotsa fun driftin clips up soon!!!! I love qualifiers DUNLOP HELP ME PLEASE!!! I NEED SOME MORE OF YOUR TIRES!!!

true, ok well any tire that is hard compound and leaning more toward the touring riders would be a buttery drifter tire hows that?

I guess I was jus feelin cocky being able to drift GOOD now after over a year of trying every once in a while and going "oh hell no I can't do this"
