Question 05-06 636 motor in a 03-04 636 frame???

My 03 636 engine is knockin like a SOB and ive been lookin for engines and talkin to different people about my options. Ive found 05-06 636 motors seem to be alot cheaper and im wondering if anyone has tried to put a 05-06 636 Engine in a 03-04 Frame (or visa-vera). As far as i know they didnt change much (Engine wise) the airbox and stator and clutch covers are different but what else? Do they have the same engine block and if not are the mounting points in the same place to where the other one will bolt right up? Please only say so if you KNOW im looking for facts not opinions, Thanks.

I havent measuerd the mounts yet but besides that keep in mind that the FI is totally differnt and you would have to swap all the wiring and also try to fit the 05 airbox because it has dual injectors....

More work then its worth IMO and Im a do it yourself swap kinda guy

Re: 05-06 636 motor in a 03-04 636 frame???

i think if you use your throttle bodies and air box and wiring the 05 06 should bolt right in to the 03 04 and if the header off the 03 fits on the 05 06 then you will be pimpin......

I know that the 05 header doesnt fit the 03 motor, because I wanted to use the 05 header when I was building my undertail exhaust. The position of the oil filter on the 03/04 block would not allow me to mount the 05 header....

Re: 05-06 636 motor in a 03-04 636 frame???

i don't know why but i still wanna try..lol

hog out all the holes a little and see if i can't get it to line up i mean a 1/2 inch total isn't that much if you open the motor mount holes up a little and then open the frame holes up a little ..a 16th here and a 16th there and next thing you know you got a 1/2 inch
