Question for the stoppie fans out there!
Question for the stoppie fans out there!
I have just learned to finally roll about 60 to 100ft stoppies.... but people are telling me if i have a steering stabilizer i could have better control resulting in better and longer stoppies? I always thought the steering stabilizer helped with high speed cornering? But i might be wrong if any one has any info or opinion on this please help me out? Because i really want high chair stoppies next year on lock guys LOL they look so sick:YEAH !!!!!!!
Re: Question for the stoppie fans out there!
i consider a good damper a requirement for stoppies...
it will help prevent headshake... and make the bike more stable in the stoppie...
I prefer rod style (toby, ohlins, hyperpro, etc)
Cliffs: YES, get one before manbearpig hears that you are rolling without one and you eat it hard!!!

a dampner is always better to have when doin long endos. its not gonna make you roll farther but itll be more stable.
also, you have a 04 600rr? i would recommend gettin stiffer springs for your forks. helps A LOT!

Re: Question for the stoppie fans out there!
ok probably a stupid question. i have a gixx 750 with the stock dampener. total junk???? cause i still get wobbles sometimes. im pretty sure im gonna hear that its junk and i gotta spend a **** ton of money AGAIN but i figured it was the place to ask................
Re: Question for the stoppie fans out there!
yo, you need to throw up those pics from your stoppie explosion so everyone can see what happens w/o a dampner...
dan is seriously lucky he does not have the mental capacity of a five year old now from his flip, it was nasty...

total garbage chuck it and spend a "**** ton" of money. Stock gixxer dampners never worked to well for me. I'd get a scotts but there are other dampners to pick from

....... I went from rolling the same 20-50ft stoppies with the stock gsxr stabilizer to 200ft just by emptyin the old oil out and putting 20w fork oil back in the stock stabilizer... quick and cheap fix... but i wasnt hitting 400-500ft marks until i put on a ohliins stabilizer with 16 clicks and 90w/120w gear oil put in.... Gotta thank Mitch A for the "Easy Button"!!!!! So dont mess around just get a steering stabilizer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Question for the stoppie fans out there!
im guessin youve never experienced the joy of a nice tank slapper while in a stoppie? you havent yet but theres a real good chance that you will especially as you start increasing your speed and height the risk of a tank slap increases. running a damper will significantly decrease any wobbles that may happen and it also gives a stiffer feel to the bars which inspires confidence when trying to roll em high. ive been rolling stoppies for 4 years with no damper and never had a bad wobble but i also never rolled em real far untill i put on a damper. well worth the money.

gpr or scotts
and yes you would need the fender ,tripple ,clipons and forks off the 06 and im not sure but you may need the rotors too

Re: Question for the stoppie fans out there!
ohlins is what I'm running.......ran a hyperpro on my 600rr and loved it, but my ohlins blows it away on quality and performance. I would recommend ohlins if you can afford it, if not I like, rod style dampers over rotary style. My GPR I had back in the day, as well as many scotts I've seen, all had 1/8"-1/2" of play in them.....too much for me when coming in at 80mph to roll endoes!
