this is a message I just got from Duker:
Im sitting here at the hospital with Ryan....He's yelling at nurses to come in and sit him up.....he's stoked we did Byron, and pissed cause his back hurts.. The doctors just informed him about his leg ......Ryan looked the doc in the eye and said....."well .....atleast im alive" He is doing ******* awesome...he will be able to receive visitors pretty soon... I will post more later on today

Attitude is 100% of the recovery! Sounds like he is doing well though. This one hits extremely close to home! There will be good days and bad days, but friends help to get through these times more than they usually know. Ryan will definitely be in my prayers and thought of regularly! If there is anything I can do, or any words of incouragement/motivation he may need, be sure to let me know! I'm not really too far away either!

When i read this quote on myspace bulliten i was stunned. I have met ryan one time recently at one of our local stunt spots and his **** was off the chain. He rides like its his life, and clearly he has made huge gains for our sport. But these words right here really hit me deep. I know for a fact that I would be devastated if i found out i lost my foot. I am not sure I would be ableto look a doctor in the eye and not feel self pity. I dont know about you guys but I think this really goes to show the true character of ryan and I wish i could be more like this. His positive outlook and upbeat attitude are downright crazy!!! I think EVERYONE should learn something by how he is dealing with this situation. Ryan I pray that you make a full recovery, and you have my full support. I just really felt like leting you know how much your attitude as effected me as you are going through this rough time in your life, and to keep up the work you ahve started. It may be a struggle man but you are not a quitter and you will succeed.

My kids will be elated, they've seen a few clips of him and he's one of their favorite riders. They've been very worried and wanted me to say, "Christian and Sierra hope you get better every day."
