636 durability..

So, currently I have an 01 f4i all set up really nice. I've synched the throttle bodies, cleaned the spark plugs, but it drives me nuts bogging in the real low end. It has +10 rear sprocket with a CA motor. I've just come to live with it and accept it.

.. until this weekend when I rode Manny's 05/06 636.

That thing ******* ripped in the low end and seemed painless to endo.

I have a guy interested in trading me his 06 636 for my f4i, but I'm concerned about the durability of the 636.

I've beat up my f4i for a solid 2 years and it still runs fine with no major problems (besides one crack in the frame that's been fixed).

How is the 05/06 636? The frame tabs look really weak and I'm concerned that it won't take my abuse (like pancaking tank circle combos), does anyone have any input?

Re: 636 durability..

rims are weak as ****, thats about my only complaint. i run a SI cage and have no problems. the cage threads into a bolt not to the motor or frame itself so no issues with stripped mounts. rearsets are weak but if u cut the ends off your pegs (like 1/8 inch)they dont hit with this cage anyway. all in all i think the f4i is built thicker but the 636 is still a pretty tough bike.

Re: 636 durability..

Knowing how you like to ride you would have issues with it holding up. Or it will calm your riding down because you'll be worried about crashing. But they're fun as ****!

Re: 636 durability..

if you run ff get a stunt stay because the stock one is plastic and when it breaks it pulls down on the radiator because the side plastics are bolted to the radiator.......

oh ahd the rear peg brackets break at the slightest contact with the ground but an OMR SUBCAGE would take care of that...plug plug plug..lol

+1 Ya the radiators are ****, but I took some thin sheet metal, and ran some braces from the bottom tabs on either side of the radiator, to the plastic mounts and its solid as a brick **** house. And the rearsets and pass pegs are **** too, they use crappy cast aluminum, breaks real easy

Re: 636 durability..

I went from f4i, to 636, and now I'm back to f4i....the bog is something I can live with. But yeah like Nick said, I took it easier on the 636 because I was always worried of something else breaking...
