Anyone wearing one of these??? Take a look be safe.
http://www.leatt-brace.com/index.aspAnyone wearing one of these? They are really taking off in MX. I know the no helmet no leather guys are going to laugh at it but I can really see this thing saving people's *** (or at least there vertabrae) I am holding off on any stunting I never rode my CBR 900 I traded + cash for a 06 GSXR the day after i got it and it is to nice to kill (GSXR) so I am in the same boat as I was with my R6. I am possibly buying an F4I this weekend though and I know I will be wearing the brace when I start riding it. I just want everyone to know these are out there and can possibly save you.
Re: Anyone wearing one of these??? Take a look be safe.
I always assumed it was more for the huge impacts, like overshooting a 200 footer and smashing your face on the bars or something. For stunting I don't think it would have a useful purpose at all... if it did, racers would be using them.
Re: Anyone wearing one of these??? Take a look be safe.
Yeah it probably has more of a use for MX but alot of Pro racers are bucking them because they are a litlle gay looking and they think they are to cool. I myself think I would look more gay paralyzed from the waist down drooling on myself in my wheelchair. Watch there demo video though and you will see what it does now picture flipping a stoppie and imagine the bike smacking the **** out of the back of your head and neck. Even in a slow speed crash you never know how you are going to fall and the bike may end up landing on you. It seems as if every MX crash I have there is a magnet glued to my ******* back and my bike just has to end up landing on me somehow. I am just trying to make some people aware of this thing being out there and I think you may see more and more racers wearing them.
Re: Anyone wearing one of these??? Take a look be safe.
It does look similar does'nt it? The main goal of this thing is to prevent your neck from overextending. When that happens it is not good. The brace stops your helmet from traveling forward and back side to side. Think how your neck bends when you faceplant. Do it the wrong (or right) way just one time and you are eating through a tube the rest of your life. Everyone should seriously consider this piece of gear. There are alot of items that I am surprised have not crossed over. As soon as I get into the slow stuff I will be wearing my CTI 2 knee braces I have had three ACL knee surgerys and would not even think about not wearing these on my MX bike. I cringe when I see guys doing circles and any tricks where they are dragging there feet, they must all have healthy knees, but if they would wear some kind of knee brace they could keep it that way. I am not saying that you need a prescription brace like a CTI 2 but even an off the shelf brace like an Asterick will greatly decrease the chance of a possible injury. All you need to do is dab your foot to save it and pop there goes an ACL.

thats an intense piece of saftey gear, but relax a little bit man your getting saftey ****. people ain't gonna listen to anything you ahve to say if you start trying to push **** on them. as for trying to get people with no knee problems to wear knee braces...just stop where you are, you actually think that people are gonna walk around with braces on all their joints so they decrease the chance of getting hurt? i doubt it

ya, they work good for impact style accidents. stuff like when you're doing 40mph and you colide with the ground and make a completely stop instantly (like a jump) or hitting something head on in a car where the head is launched forward of the body causing a fracture of the odontoid process of C2.
not often do we hit objects that fast. how many stunters do you know that fracture their necks at c2? i haven't heard of one yet. you hear mostly of lumbar (lower) back injuries associated with our accidents.
