Just curious if anyone else has run into something like this before I go tearin my bike apart lookin for a problem.

Bike's FI light has been on but it runs fine. Idles weird now and again but thats it. I took the advice of some other guys on here and ran some Sea Foam thru it yesterday. It ran fine while I was ridin it, but I only rode it back home which is just like a 5 minute ride. Its sat for 2 days and I started it back up tonight and it ran fine. Just idled a tad low. Cut it off and started it back up and it turned to ****.

It sounds like its not runnin on all cylinders.
It won't start up unless you give it a lot of throttle.
It won't stay running without a lot of throttle.
Even with the throttle opened up, it won't rev higher than probably 3 grand and it sounds like **** when it does, bogging down REAL bad or dying.

Could I have fouled the plugs somehow?
Could the sea foam have loosened up some gunk somewhere and it all lodged in a line or filter now?
Any Ideas? I'd just like some headway before I go into it blindly and have to just guess.

You should clean your plugs. BTW did you read the can, or just pour it in your engine?

How much did you use? How long did you let it sit?

 

here's what you do, remove gas cap from fuel tank and roll bike forward 5 feet no more no less than roll a kawasaki zx636 under your gas cap and install cap problems are now solved good luck

 

hmmmm idk thats really weird. Sea foam shouldnt have really dicked anything up though i dont think. i doubt your bike had that much **** for the seafoam to clean out. i'd check your plugs and go from there. my friend had a problem similar to this.
BTW seafoam cleans carbon build up and ****, people use it in all sorts of stuff. has a pretty good reputation. suck it through vaccuum lines/ dump in gas tank normally.

 

it sounds like bad plugs..the f4i is notorious for fouling plugs and running like **** when they do...by the way get the irridiums or you'll regret it!!!!!!!!!

Sea Foam is just an injector/carb cleaner fuel additive. Its supposed to be really good stuff. My buddy works at Advance and says it the best **** they got.

I used a quarter can. It treats 8-12 gallons per can. And yeah, you just add it to your fuel. Its only sat a couple days. I'm guessin its probably not had high octane fuel ran thru it in the past. The throttle bodies were pretty dirty when I took the airbox off yesterday too. So I assume there's probably gunk in other places.
And yeah I'm gonna tear into it in the morn and check the plugs, just real weird that it ran fine tonight and then 30 seconds later I restarted and ran like ****. I've never seen plugs foul like that.

I'm gonna grab a new fuel filter too, just in case.

Thats the thing. It doesn't blink. It doesn't even come on for a min or two till after the bike is started and running. ???????????????????

And wax the bodies? With anything in particular or just auto wax? And what do ya wax, just the tubes? Is it makin **** stick er something? lemme know, and thanks.

 

he's talking about the enrichner on it the choke it is made of wax to operate the choke when coolant gets warm it melts to deactivate the enrichner i dont think it's that though becauce it would make it act like it was warmed up not stay open my guess is plugs the sea foam is like oil and it will foul those plugs if left in and not run completely through $100 bucks it's plugs!!!!!!!!!

When it comes on, don't turn the key off.... put the kickstand down while it's in gear so the bike shuts off but the gauges stay lit.........


Wait a couple mins and tell me how many times it blinks.


If that dosent work, then take the seat off and look for the black 2 wire plug that's not attached to anything.... jump that plug w/ a wire and turn the key to on...... now count the blinks.

One long blink = 10.... so 1 long + 4 short = code 14.

Lemme know........

bet it's the plugs and i would drain the gas to get that **** out don't forget to activate the fuel pump to empty that out too!!!!!!!!

thanks KJ, i'll try that and hit you back. I gotta get it to run first tho. Cause now it won't even sit at idle or hardly even start.
That ****** blows about sea foam causin so much **** to happen.
And it ran so smooth after I first put it in. If I'd known that I woulda just left it runnin till it ran outta gas.

Oh btw, I finally broke my idle stop cable that adjusts the rpms.
Are those things universal cause some company's cost more than others.
And whats the best to buy for an F4i. My last one was kinda short and kept gettin in a bind.
