anyone ever
see someone use one of those dirtbike tralier hitch things for a strretbike my buddy has an expedition and one of those for his dirtbike was wondering if a streetbike was to heavy for it or not?
Re: anyone ever
I was wondering the same thing.
Never done it, but I've bent two trailer hitches before pulling trailers whose tongue weights were too heavy and I think a street bike has got to be too heavy. especially with the leverage.
Anyone done it?

Re: anyone ever
i had a joe hauler that i bought from a bike shop back in california and had my old DR350 strapped onto the back for a drive to texas. about 3/4 of the way there hit a bump and lost it off the back........ broken the bars and cosmetic damage.
anyway... i drove it again on there but just compressed the shocks all the way so it did have any play whatsoever.
the limit for that particular hauler was 350-400.
i wouldnt risk it with a bike worth more than 1200... like the DR.

buy my silverado, i'm pickin up my new whip tomorrow. :YEAH
Fuct420, yeah 380-420 wet, but then you have to factor in that when you hit a bump the weight is multiplied at the hitch on the movement when youre traveling down.. so your 420lb bike goes up and comes down with the force of 520lbs, and whamo you just lost your chit on the highway.

Re: anyone ever
5.3l voretch, 145k on it.. 4" spindles and 3" blocks, fresh seals on the driveshaft, just changed plugs/wires, oil always done around 3k, etc etc.
hit me up if you're serious, but it's in vegas.

i just want 5k, enough to pay off my RR and fund my move back to texas.
Re: anyone ever
If anything, i would try and run a tiedown horizontally across the bike longways and then tether it to the vehicle, to prevent as much as possible the bike tumbling off backwards.
i'd be pissed if i dropped my bike offa my ride on the hwy.
