Good Move or Not...?

Alright I've read and seen enough posts. I'm gonna take off my FI cage and slap on a SI cage. Hopefully it will make a noticeable difference for future crashes. One thing though.. Should I get the sliders too?

Yes, but order them with the cage. I made the mistake of ordering them after I got the cage, it took 2 weeks for the cage to get here and its going on 3+ for the sliders. Doesn't make sense but oh well.

Re: Good Move or Not...?

I don't know the guys above that are sayin to keep the FI, but I'm assuming they're either so good that they don't toss their bikes very hard anymore OR they're sponsered by FI because IT'S A PIECE OF ****!!!!

All it will do is rip out ur motor mounts and flip the bike up onto the bars ALL THE TIME... breaking everything on ur bars including the bars.

Take it from me... i've been through 3 FI cages, 1 905, and now im on my second SI. I PUT MY BIKE THROUGH STRAIGHT UP HELL... DAILY!!

Since the last FI i haven't even had a motormount bolt in the left side of the cage and you'd never know there wasn't a bolt on there it's so tight.

SO.... DO NOT waste your hard earned $$ on a cage that's gonna cost you an arm and a leg in the long run after all the spare hb masters, clutch levers, front brake masters, clipons, and STATOR COVERS u end up buying.

FI SUCKS... i can't believe people are actually still using these things now that there are such better designs out there now

Oh... and sliders are worth it too... just dont tighten them down too much or they'll snap off easier.

true or false? i normally don't respond to these gay *** cage threads, but i keep seeing haters talking ****.

FI cage is the most well rounded cage out there. I'm sponsored by them, but i could be sponsored by ANY cage company. I run them because it is really a superior product. I'm also sponsored by 905, but I don't like their cages for me personally, but they have other great products that i love.

i guarantee that i crash probably more than a lot of you out there, and def more than you guys think. with an FI cage, you need to maintain it. order a couple of spare motor mount bolts with it and MAKE SURE all the bolts are tight before each ride...all these cats complaining about broken motor mounts and stuff, i would bet money they do NO maintenance...same for their bikes prolly. you need to maintain ANY cage just like you would every other part on your bike.

the FI cage for the RR is prone to rollovers, but i've yet to break anything more than crack my tailsection and upper. no broken levers, masters, footpegs or anything. and YES, i cake it. i just replaced a motor mount this morning after 2 direct flops from 12, trying to stall 50-50's and go right...plus a dozen or so smaller falls.

so f*** whatcha heard

kj said it best: he's been through 3 FI cages, a 905 and 2 SI cages...cages are designed to help your bike sustain a crash, not make it bulletproof.

like i said, maintain your cage, like your bike and FI is the superior choice for sure. the parts are easily replaceable without having to replace the whole cage, it is light, it is sleek, the direcdtiosn and packaging are great...etc.

and remember, dont give me this "ur sponsored by them" crap, because i can be sponsored by anyone, but i CHOOSE this cage.

peace love and chaingrease...going to go beat on my 'junk' FI cage right now!

Re: Good Move or Not...?

i've loved every FI cage i've ever had!!!!!
the only reason that i've messed up the motor mount bolts on them is because i didn't keep them tight!!!!!

and i ride gixxers!!!! gotta love myth's!!!!

if u constitanly beat the **** outta your bike it's gonna f up cages/ bikes!!

Re: Good Move or Not...?

Hey fellas... i don't normally get involved in cage threads either, but don't get me wrong.... I'm not just hatin just to hate!!! I come on here to help people out... not hate 4 no reason.

I've had 2 of em on my bike already (and 2 on my old 954's). So actually i've gone through 4 freestyle cages. And I did tighten MM bolts all the time, im no dummy when it comes to maintenance. While on the subject of MM bolts... the FI will bend bolts consistantly, even on lighter drops... so as Teach said, get urself a bunch extra cause they go quick.

When i was using the FI, i did think it was a good cage... it did it's job. But i had no other experience to compare it to.

When i decided to take a chance on a new cage company, i realized just how much better the SI design was for the f4i (or how bad the FI design is, depends on how u look at it). And i could not believe how i got by for so long w/out it (the sick cage). I'd litterally go through 2 FI's per season and 1 SI per 2 seasons.

With the FI... after a dump, i'd have to stand the bike up and go over everything to see what i had to fix/adjust/replace.... now, all i do is pick the bike up and keep riding.

I used to keep a spare of each master, clutch and bars in the garage... after gettin my second SI i sold all my spares on ebay cause I had no more use for them.

I'm not sponsered by anyone...... but when i have quite a bit of first hand experience w/ the 2 cage companies that were asked about, i figured I'd let the guy know the honest truth... no punches pulled.... sorry if this upsets some people who have only run ONE particular type of cage and don't have the experience w/ the other.

BOTTOM LINE: The FI will do the job... but the SI will do the job NOTICABLY better and for MUCH LONGER before it needs to be replaced.

I'm not as talented as some of the guys that posted above, but still have much experience w/ alot of different products out there, and I know ALOT about what setups work better than others... so take my advice for what it's worth... just tryin to help a fellow stunt rider save some $$.

Re: Good Move or Not...?

Besides.... the original question was "Good move or not" switchin from FI to SI...

NOT "who loves their FI cage"....

SO.... in reality... anybody that dosen't have 1st hand experience w/ BOTH cages probably should keep their opinions to themselves.
