WR250 Mods for wheelies?
WR250 Mods for wheelies?
I've got a WR250 I bought for wheelies and stunting in the dirt, I've ran into a problem though, there is a breather tube which is mounted directly on the top of the engine and runs to the bottom of the bike. This tube starts spewing the engine oil out whenever I ride a 12oclock wheelie, or if I go past 12.
I've tried extending and rerouting the tube all the way up the bike, over the top of the radiator, and then back down. But it still does it, does anyone have any ideas on how to catch the oil and/or prevent it from spitting out?
I attached some pics to show at which point the oil starts spilling out (oil spill is not visible in the pics)

Re: WR250 Mods for wheelies?
No, its a power valve vent tube...not all oil is burned up during the combustion process on a 2-stroke...especially when you dont run the engine hard...some of the exhaust gas (which still has oil deposits in it) is designed to flow thru the exhaust power valve to keep it lubed. 32:1 is the standard ratio of gas:oil in a 2 stroke....if you dont run it hard you can go 40:1 and possibly 50:1...this will produce less spluge but may shorted engine life....you may try to run a different oil that burns cleaner or maybe even a catch can. But you dont want to block it off, your power valve will eventually stick.

oh wait I just saw the exhaust its a WR250F (4-stroke) they did make a wr250 back in the day (2-stroke). no your talking about the crankcase breather tube. I stunt a YZ250F (same bike) mine hasnt leaked a bit of oil since i started stunting it. You either have too much oil in it, your rings are shot or the divider inside your cylinder head cover was removed.

Yes those are old pics from last december
I ride all year long, rain or snow! LOL
You are correct E-Loc540, It is a 4 stroke, its the 2001 WR250F.
My oil dip stick is in the top of the frame, directly between the gas tank and the handlebars. I always check my fluid before I ride, and I fill the oil up to the top hash marks, and while riding it starts spewing the oil out of the top case breather tube during the 12oclocks. After riding, I check the oil again, and no oil even shows up on the hash marks.
This thing will dump like a quart of oil in just a few seconds once you go past the sweet spot, and the rings are good. I've never removed any divider, I'm the 2nd owner, the original owner would take it to the shop to get the oil changed, I'm sure he wouldn't know how to remove it.
How much oil do you run in yours? Are you at the top hash marks?
