frame painting?

Couple weeks ago i crashed my 07 gsxr, and of course the frame of the bike got some scratches on it. now its bare exposed metal and i want to paint the frame. mainly to prevent rusting, but also for that glamour look of the bike. my question is what type of paint holds up good on the bikes frames to protect them and wont look utterly like carp?? kinda want to see if any of you guys have some ideas or done something like this?
thanks
-evan

think i totaly pulled a newbi move and posted in the wrong place, if so my bad and im sorry

Re: frame painting?

I used flat-black engine acrylic paint on my frame. Seems to be working well.

isnt that paint designed to be heated up and melt/dissolve/burn off certain qualitys to the paint to the acrylic can stick due to the high heat?

ehhh... the silver i used made it have more of a shiney metallic/reflective feel, and the clear coat just made it glossy. the only reason i clear coated it was because those paints are meant to be clear coated, without it they scratch really easily.

Out of your house? how much did that set up run you? For something like a frame though powdercoating is the way to go.

Re: frame painting?

i built a 6 foot tall by 6 foot deep by 3 foot wide convection oven in my garage, runs off 220v and its 50amps, 4 10k watt heating elements, oven cost about $1,800-$2,000 in materials.

Gloss black a good idea along with a bunch of clearcoat for a frame? If so, what type of paint?

i use omni plus on almost everything... it 'handels' alot like House of kolor, but its cheaper... But HOK is my fav on final results.

With omni, 2 color coats and 1 thick even or 2 thin clear coats will be golden.. if you take eveything off the frame, put something in the head tube and around the top so the clear coat doesnt cake up in there.
