So i smashy smashied my tank and went rippin when i noticed my *** was on fire. Sure enough the tank has a split in it right on the edge where the gas cap goes. I used some kinda 2 part epoxy, basically jb weld but the gas chews through it. What do i use to stop it ? Or do i just find a crazy welder to zap it shut ?

 

if you rinse the tank out with water it will be perfectly safe to weld or solder....

i have done both ,silver solder is pretty strong and you don't need to do any body work when your done ...

welding is stronger but you need to grind and **** when your done if you want it to look good

That is on the 929, so i can just solder it ? Its a perfect split, nice and clean right along the edge so it should be easy to fix id think.

 

a burso torch[you know the little blue ones plumbers use] some flux and silver solder should fix you right up

**** I hate split gas tanks! mine still leaks once in a blue moon... if you get it welded/soldered.. refer me.

 

oh yea don't use regular solder use silver solder it is way stronger

Well for retards such as myself what is this silver solder you speek of cuz pretty much the only solder i have seen is silver ?

 

most solder isn't silver solder ,you need to make sure it says silver solder on the label .....

 

My tank is leaking. where do i get the solder from? I have tryed JbWeld, and a couple other things and nothing is seaming to work..

i torch welded mine with brass.. hasn't split all summer and mine was bad

 

yep brass works too but i think silver solder might be stronger

 

Just leave gas in tank and weld....
