Best forks for F4I?
Tried a search, but we all know how that works. So, I might have found a wrecked F4I with some twisted forks. Figure if I get it, might as well replace the stockers with something better. What is the best swap, and what might I need to complete the job?
Re: Best forks for F4I?
ya think? the f4i forks are cheap forks.. they put LESS time and money in it to keep the bike cheap.. not saying that they are bad but not the best they could be!
i got the rc51 forks on m right now, at the same hight as the stockers. bike feels so good and brakes way better!

Well, that makes it easy. I thought I had heard some buzz around here about swapping them w/ 954 forks or something, and it feeling way better. I've learned that you know your ****, Wheeliest, so I'll take your word for it.

Re: Best forks for F4I?
your obviously in your learning stage and just think about it..
why are you buying an F4i?
To upgrade to somthing alittle better thats affordable.
what if you come across a sick front end from a rc51/929/954 for cheap... i promise you can find a 10x better deal on f4i stock front end.
all you gotta do is load in some heavier oil and set your compression and rebound settings up good and your set to roll 200ft stoppies on stock brakes/forks..
when u exceed that then you can step it up to something alittle more expensive, if you lose control of your bike with a inverted front end and it hits a wall or tree it will more likely tuck your frame then bend your forks. also liter bike front wheels/rotors are a bit more expensive.. unless your killing stoppies a liter bike front end isn't going to make you wheelie or stoppie better.

Re: Best forks for F4I?
Actually, I swapped a 929/954 ft end on mine and it does feel way better. More powerful brakes and better dampening. I didnt like the pogo stick feel of the f4i forks. Wheeliest does have a good point about it being cheaper and with that in mind, I have a complete f4i frt end that I will sell.

Re: Best forks for F4I?
Stock forks are good for about 3-400'. I was rolling about 400 on stock forks. I put the heavier oil and turned the comp. and reb. way up and that help with the initial bounce from popping up but once your close to the balance point they flex real bad, and I only weigh about 160. It made it hard to roll real strait because the the wheel would flex side to side. I have rc 51 forks and it is a major difference. There is no flex and even on stock settings and oil they feel way better. rc forks are way to expensive and hard to find. Any inverted fork is better than stock f4i forks though.
Re: Best forks for F4I?
929-954 forks = a fad = a waste of money = poser = cracked frame = more money = sitting at home bench riding = poser.
i wish I never did that mod. I had to bang 5 fat chicks and never call them back to feel better about my self.

Re: Best forks for F4I?
exactly how i did it. actually i rolled about 400 on the stockers:YEAH
Re: Best forks for F4I?
WHEN YOU BRINGING THAT 636 DOWN TO WRECK SOME SHOP BUT BACK ON THE TOPIC IVE NEVER EVEN RODE WITH THE STOCK FRONT END SO GOT NO INFO ON THAT I SEE PEOPLE KILLING IT WITH THE 100RR FRONT IM HAPPY WITH THE 954 I HEAR TOO THAT STOCK F4 WITH HYPERPRO SPRINGS ARE REALLY NICE
Re: Best forks for F4I?
I switched back to f4i stockers last year cause the 954's didn't do **** for my stoppies... and i made a couple of bucks in the process.
Stockers roll plenty farther than most guys are able to.
Re: Best forks for F4I?
First i had stock F4i and the fork was really bad, it was not hard enough, way to soft. Then i saw some advice on stuntlife to put in springs 0.95 and thicker oil, i did that but it was still not what i wanted, then i put original springs in from an F3 and the thicker oil and then it felt really good !
Now i tried the 954 fork with thicker oil and i must say that it is very good, in the beginning i had some problems to get used to the increased brake power.
But i must say that i don't do much further stoppies than with the original fork. But i am no specialist in endo's, i do like 100 m and 200° turns.
The only bad thing on changing forks is the more limited steering and that is not so good for burn-outs.
Greetz !!

Re: Best forks for F4I?
inverted forks are stiffer and usually have a bigger rotor on the front wheel
but with some 15 wt fork oil the stocker will work good too and if you just add a little extra oil to the stockers they will be less spungy [air compresses oil doesn't]
