Is every cop...?

Today I broke the cardinal rule of no wheelies on semi-congested streets in heavily cop laden areas.

The road looked fairly empty except for an SUV slightly behind me and some cars in the vast distance so I jumped on the seat and picked it up doing roughly 30-40. I road it for a couple hundred feet when the road cambered heavily to the left so I set it down. I missed my turn because of the wheelie so I flipped a U-ball in the appropriate area and headed back to my missed turn off. As I come up to a stop light a marked cop car rolls up next to me and the cop tells me to pull over to the side of the road. I realize that I am now about to get proper #ucked. The cop gets out of his cruiser and he looks like the typical officer with a chip on his shoulder. The officer tells me I can't be doing that, it's very reckless driving. I'm still in shock about where this guy mystically manifested himself from because I saw no cop car in any direction. He asks me if it's my bike and if I have a license. I answer yes to both questions. I dig into my back pocket to procure my identification. As I open my wallet to retrieve my license, the officer notices I am active duty military.

He looks at me and says, "Man, you've put me in a bad spot."

At this point I realize that I am going to jail and my bike will be headed for the great straightaway in the sky. The officer then says these heart palpitating words: "I take care of my brothers in the service."

A silver lining peeks around the rain clouds.

The officer tells me he will be right back and heads to his cruiser. After about 5 minutes of waiting, he returns.

"I hope you realize what I'm doing for you.", he says.

He hands me back my license and registration, holds out a ticket pad, and gives me "This is not an admission of guilt" spiel.

It's a no registration citation. Not reckless. Not improper operation. Not speeding. Not even a failure to signal (which I think I may have forgetten to do when I got ready to make the U-turn). The cop tells me that I am 26 years old and that I should more or less grow up and act my age. He was unusually polite and corteous for a police officer. He fit the stereotypical mold of the cop who ill hammer you face first into the ground for even contemplating on spitting from a moving vehicle. He hooked me up. BIG TIME. My bad judgement was overlooked this time for being in the military.

Not all police officers are ********. For the first time I can say...damn I'm glad to be in the military!

He should have just let you go, I've been pulled over for worse and been completly let go and I'm not in the military. I've also heard stories from cops that have heard of cops giving off duty cops tickets.

Re: Is every cop...?

My old roommate is BSO (Broward County Sheriffs Office for those of you not in south florida), and he said there was a unspoken rule of not giving tickets to: other cops, fire fighters, judges, military personal, cops in BSO's wives/girlfriends, or anyone with a cops buisness card with a handwritten cell phone number written on it that they could call to verify(thats the catigory i fall into, but its a one time use "get out of jail free" card so i don't wipe it out for little speeding tickets). So join one of those groups and your golden

Re: Is every cop...?

it's all in who you catches ya......... good deal though, could of always been worse. today was a day for tickets though,

My bestfriend is in Iraq, his son stays with his grandma, so when i can, i go and hang out with him, so we went to Mc d's and on the way back, he wants to put on my helmet in the back seat and unbuckles his seat belt and grabs it right as a state trooper was passing me, so since i never where my belt, i got two seat belt tickets.... so in all, a $10 trip to Mc d's cost me 60...... gotta love it.....

Re: Is every cop...?

I've only been stopped once on a streetbike & I got fucked. I've had a couple cool cops when I got pulled over in my cars though. I've gotten out of a 105mph in a 55mph zone in my old Integra. I knew the cops son well though. This is when I was 17

Re: Is every cop...?

Is this some kind of curse?
I just read this post, was driving to blockbuster, and I popped a wheelie in town, I drive a 1/4 mile, and everythings good, I pull into blockbuster only to see a SUV with lights flashing. I thought to myself sucks to be them, only to realize it sucks to be me!
I was drunk, no insurance or registration on me, and have 5 unpaid tickets over a month old.
I get the whole you wanna lose your bike, not safe story, and only got a careless driving 8(
Come to find out, blockbuster wouldn't even let me rent anything cuz I had an autosale that I forgot about. I guess it could be worse.

I got out of a d.w.i. (.15) once becouse I worked for the towing co. they used for all their impounds. All I had to do was get towed home. The cop called the shop and ask MY dispatcer what he should do becouse he did not want to **** of the owner of the towing co. by taking me in becouse i then would not be able to drive the trucks. I did get fired 2 weeks later for it but it was a part time job so i think i got off good.

And lesson learned no more drunk driving after that one

Re: Is every cop...?

Yo Alvin, what's up bro?

It wasn't in Va Beach, it was in Richmond. If it were at the beach I would have been hosed for sure. Va Beach cops don't give a $hit about anyone and I'd venture to say over half would arrest their mothers given the opportunity. I've seen a couple bike stops in Va Beach go downhill quickly. You're guarenteed reckless and a strong possibility of heading to jail in the Va Beach area.
