Throwing the F4i like a rag doll!!!
Throwing the F4i like a rag doll!!!
I posted this picture in another thread but I don't think anybody really paid attention to what it really is...
I went from owning an 05 636 to an F4i and so far just haven't been as happy with it. I tried DB and still wasn't happy. I bought a set of aftermarket clipons, still not happy, flipped them and turned them out which was better but still not great compared to the 636. Plus, no chance of running FF with them in a position I liked (WIDE) so I moved things around till I came up with this:

Look close and you can see, I turned the clipons to where the bars are behind the forks on the side closest to the tank instead of in front.
They completely clear the Fairing that is not cut at all.
AND THEY FEEL AWESOME!
So much more control of the bike now it feels even easier to throw around than the 636 I had. I guess it changes the leverage point but I wouldn't have thought it would make that much different. Sit down circles feel like a pitbike now. I havent' tried endos but I go to the spot THursday so that the first thing I try.
I don't know why it makes such a big difference but just TRY IT! I'll never go back to anything else

Re: Throwing the F4i like a rag doll!!!
You can't tell just lookin at the bike especially with the fairings on cause the bars end up coming out about where they should.
Since I got this bike I havent like the stretch to the bars. I remember the 636 felt great like everything was just "right there" with the stock clips flipped and turned out. Now this bike feels event better and feels lighter too. It feels kinda like I added rise but there is no more rise other than the angle of the bars flipped

I'm the opposite, i rode a few kawis and theyre just not comfortable... its the the bars or anything, its the distance between the triple and the seat... i have to crouch to do seat standers, i dont like it... but i love my f4i man, wouldnt have anything else. theyre just not comfortable.
Re: Throwing the F4i like a rag doll!!!
I replaced the set screw and ran it right under the center of the airbox and out to one side. It works on either side just the same but the right side makes more sense. Works perfect and easy to turn
Re: Throwing the F4i like a rag doll!!!
Yep, thats what the post was about. Seems to give you even more leverage this way.
Yeah It's tight for pulling through no doubt. Its not that I can't ride it the normal way, I just don't like it as much. Ride a 636 a while then step to an F4i and you can seet what I mean.
Hell, at least I finally got rid of the MX bars
