Unhappy OMG need advice....Please help!

I cannot believe what I just found out. I bought my stunt bike used and have been rebuilding it. I just found a crack in the neck of the frame the was welded together. I just noticed this and its cracked through the fix/weld job. I am pissed....Is this fixable? You think I can grind it down and re-weld it....but will this hold specially being on the neck area? Or am I screwed and need a new frame? If I buy a new frame do I have to have another title issued because of the new VIN?

Re: OMG need advice....Please help!

My advice!?.....
Find a DAM GOOD! Alloy welder like some one who used to build race car frames like I did! And then strip it down to the frame and have this person make the frame as strong as they can!! This will mean u having to strip it to the bare frame but it can be made strong again if done right? It may not look all that good and may never be as strong as it was before it broke but at least it will be safe until it cracks again?
hope this helps man? it sucks to get robbed like that but mabe at least you can get some use out of it? but i would find a real good alloy guy!!

A new frame is just going to crack as well. The old gixxers are notorious for that. Strip it down and have it plated up.

Re: OMG need advice....Please help!

I'm not sure if this helps, but I had a 2000 zx-9 that I never dropped, and developed a stress crack up on top of the frame near the bend before the neck. I brought it back to the dealer a year after the warranty expired, and Kawasaki gave me a new frame for free. I only had to pay for the labor to switch everything over which was $600.00. The new frame came blank with no numbers, but the dealer was authorized to punch in the same numbers. When it was done, it was perfect. I believe that a motorcycle frame is like any other part on a bike, and can be purchased through an official dealer. If I were you I would call my local dealer, and ask them if it is possible to purchase a frame, and what there policies are. Don't deal with any clowns that sell these frames without numbers on them, and claim them to be stunt frames. Chances are that there stolen frames with the numbers grounded down, and painted over. Good luck, and don't get discouraged.

Re: OMG need advice....Please help!

Every Time You Weld It The Heat Is Weakening The Metal. My Teamate Had His Frame Crack In An Eight Inch Pattern On Both Sides Of The Neck And Down The Side. We Welded It Three Times, On The Third Time You Could Have Set One More Wheelie Down On It Easey And It Would Have Snapped Off Completely. Sell The Frame While You Still Can. Gixxers Are Known For This.

Re: OMG need advice....Please help!

I had a fixxer with cracks in the frame in 4 places. Had both sides of the neck plated and the top sides at the widest point. It held for 2-3 months then proceeded to crack in other areas. I believe after you plate one point the stress moves to the next weakest point making it weak and eventually cracking. (especially if you have a piece of **** gixxer). I would part out the bike and invest in a Honda, it aint worth eatin a landing over a frame you dont trust. You will also always be checkin it like I was after every hard landing or stoppie wonderin if the bike was goin to split in half. Its also expensive to have **** welded (especially by someone good) Those 2 plates and other welds cost me $450 and I stripped the bike myself!

Re: OMG need advice....Please help!

Yeah, if that frame is torn, like everyone said...ditch it. It'll tear again. New frame = a new title. If the bike is registered in your name then the local stealership will sell you a stamped frame for the measely price of your first born and a ********. Best of luck.

You have to re weld the crack from someone who has pimp aluminum tig welding skills. And not only the crack but then have it plated over the top of the crack and welded on. As you can see under my avatar I got 4 plated cracks in my frame. They have been on there for the last year and are fine. Get that done, check em every once and awhile and you'll be fine. But if you got $ to blow then go ahead and spend over a grand to get a new one registration title and all that crap. F it it's only $ right.. LOL

Like I said in other threads reguarding frames.. If your cracking the sh*t out of it that bad you are garbage. Go get yourself some skills, and quit mouse trappin the sh*t out of your bike.
