Burnouts fuck up clutch?
Burnouts **** up clutch?
Doing circle burnouts last night and after a few of em I go back to whoolies and my clutch is not engaging until its all the way out now and it wont pop up anymore. Was it too hot? How do you know when your clutch is fucked? Ride safe girls and boys.
Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
u know its fucked when ur bike wont move anymore. other than that i dont know really. my clutch gets a lil weird after doin some burnouts or clutchin it up for a bit. just kinda pops i guess when i go back to ridin it regular. after a couple normal gear shifts it is ok.
Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
same thing happen on mine 636 but after it cool down it go back to normal. i guess clutch get overheat ?
Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
theres little peices of paper on the friction plates, when you heat the plates up they fall off.. (you'll see next time you change your oil). onces you lose all those pads on the plates bike will nolonger move just slips..
Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
normally it won't mess up your clutch, unless your clutch is already weak and slipping or you are putting pressure on the clutch lever causing it to slip a little....that will destroy a clutch super fast.
a lot of squids destroy their clutches fast because they keep their finger pulling on the clutch when they are doing the burnout....that's bad. have your finger ready in case you need to pull the clutch, but keep it off the lever.
23k miles of rev-limiter burnouts on my last stuntbike and not a single problem with the clutch.

Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
binder929rr said it all. the problem ppl have is they burn out or try but let the clutch out too slow and thats really hard on the clutch... and they keep their finger on the clutch in case they need to pull it in but dont notice their pullin it in just a hair and thats just as bad.....
Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
If you're burning up your clutch doing burnouts it was either reeeeeally bad to begin with, or it's just rider error. I used to go through a take-off tire every couple days when we had a good burnout spot. 2 years on the same F4i clutch, burnouts every day... alot of em.
Why are you using the clutch for rolling burnouts anyways???

Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
The way to do it is to start the burn out from a stand still (clutch should be fully out), slowly start releasing the front brake... and there you go.
And you DO NOT need a large sprocket for this.
Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
That's how I do it on my girlfriend's little brother's dirt bike.
Re: Burnouts **** up clutch?
i start from a roll.
you just clutch it loose then leg the hell go of the clutch.
that's what hazen is saying, you do'nt need the clutch DURING the burnout for any reason at all...once it's going get off the damned clutch.
