If I drill a small hole through my swingarm and run a bolt through my swingarm & through a bicycle peg, and then use a washer & nut to mount it. Will I have problems if I wreck my bike? Like my swingarm bending, or breaking? It's a 2002 TTR-225.

I want a rear peg for staggered wheelies & my axle isn't long enough & I don't want to break my axle or bend it in a wreck & my friend suggested I do it like this. I just wanted to know if I will have problems with this? I'm not really sure how strong dirt bike swing arms are. It will probably be about 4 inches before the axle.

 

i did the same thing on my ttr125.. and that swingarm is alot smaller. I threw mine down tons and never had problems. It was getting a little caved in after a while but I ******* **** pounded that bike. You should be fine.. just keep an eye on the area if you wreck it hard.. just make sure its not cracking by the whole..


my swingarm was only about 2" thick too.. if that.

I just went to home depot & bought long bolts, washers & nuts. We'll put them on within a couple of days. I'm driving to rochester tommorrow so I don't know if I can do it tommorrow.

 

I was about to drill the hole earlier but then I got thinking just to be safe I was gonna make it stronger.
I'm gonna get a welder to weld a nice steel plate on each side of the swingarm to make it stronger, then I'll run the bolt through that. & I'll have both rear pegs, one on each side. I figure this will make it real strong so if I crash hard it wont crack my swingarm.

Damn that looks pimp. Anyway you can get your hands on a TTR225 & make one that I can buy off you? Or can I somehow take measurments & have you make one for me?
