i need help with denting tanks

ok i've got an 06 cbr 600rr and its got the plastic cover over the gas tank. i want to dent my tank in but i'm not sure what the the best way to dent it in is with the plastic cover over it. i've heard someone talk about beatin in the metal tank under the plastic and then heating the plastic cover with a heat gun so that it melts down and is smooth over the metal tank but i'm just lookin for a lil advice from anyone before i **** anything up you know. anyone with any helpful advice please let me know something. thanks much and it's all appreciated.

well, i dont recall off the top of my head how the plastic looks on the 06 rr, but the 06 r6 has it, and the plastic part is already preatty flat. I saw one kid on uponone, he flattened it out on the backside so it was wider and flush with the plastic, and seemed to work preatty good. I havnt done it yet to my r6, but if i do it this weekend ill send u a pic

Use a dead blow hammer to dent metal tank.(start from the center and work your way out with the dent.Get a heat gun to melt plastic to the dent, hit the search, there are a lot of threads about this and pics

This is how I did mine. Got the metal tank just the way I wanted it and then melted the plastic down. Not very hard to do, you just gotta say f**k it and do it..

Im Not Positive About How To Do It...But I've Seen People Do It Before,And What They Did Was Beat The **** Out Of It With A Rubber Mallet Until Its About As Flat As You Want It.Then You Sand It Down A Little Bit.Then Put Bondo In The Dent.Let It Dry And When Its Dry,Put Grip Tape Or Somthing On It.Good Luck

Re: i need help with denting tanks

haha how dumb...anyway all you gotta to do is take the plastic off then try to use mallet hammer to dent it very carefully , when u r done with it n use a heater on the plastic to make sure its soft enough to push down , put the plastic gas tank back on the gas tank then push it down.
