I mentioned to my pops that I was looking for an abandoned airfield to ride on (I heard a rumor about one locally) and asked him (a private pilot) how I could go about finding it. He tipped me off to this site

It's a decent list of closed/abandoned airports around the country. It's got descriptions, maps, pictures, etc.
A lot of the places closed decades ago and have been developed over, but there are plenty that are recently closed/abandoned.
Some of you in the central US should go out and scope out some of the better spots.

im going to check this place out tomorrow. its about an hour from me. place was recently closed due to a airplain comming in for final decent and taking out an SUV and killing two people. place looks mint tho and i bet they would rent it out.http://www.airfields-freeman.com/DE/..._S.htm#josephs
where on the net can i find a type of release for stating that they are no way liable for any injury, so i can take that up there with me when i go check it out. cause yes im taking my bike lol

Good luck. That family is rich as **** so I do not know if they would want to get into renting it out or not. Also, how can they close a private runway? Are you sure it is definately closed? If so, I would be down for throwing in some $ as well. I am about 30 minutes north of it.
