the problem with doing it with steel then it rips the bar out of the clipon clamp itself. i fucked mine all up run steel bars on my vortex clipons.

 

which is why i have never done it

 

i thought it was the best thing ever till it did that too. hahahaha. dont have to deal with that anymore running db bars.

 

what about using solid aluminum or maybe just a little thicker wall than the actual vortex bars?

 

i would just stick with the standard vortex one. its not worth ******* up the clamp part of the clipons.

yeah they have black and gold now too. instead of just silver. there the same money and look way more pimp!:YEAH

 

Go to your local material dealer and buy some .125 wall .875 Aluminum tubing.
Chop it off every 10.00inches or so. You can get about 20 replacements for a few dollars.

Got them all mounted up tonight. It feels pretty good but they just seem like they stick out so far that everytime I drop the bike they are gonna bend like wire...guess we'll see

 

so after my first day using them, i like them. the only bad parts is that I cant turn as easy as i used to because everything hits the stay. And i had to rotate my front brake lever so much that its damn near pointing down. Its making my stoppies harder....oh well, guess i just gotta get used to it.

 

That's the price you pay. I ran FI clip ons when i had my 929 FF. Not a big deal, u will get used to it.

 

once my 636 clip-ons break I'll get some Vortex ones. I heard they will work flipped on FF... but I like to run SF but this season I'll run 3/4

 

after riding them all weekend im definately starting to get used to it and im lovin them...
