cutting f4i pipe v. 409856237

OK so last night I began the hacking of my stock 01 f4i pipe. I searched but out of all the threads I didnt really get a clear understanding of what to do?And it seemed like everyone did it differently. Anyways.

So far I have cut the tip off. I cut about 1/4 inch to the right of the welds. I cut it straight through and its now in two pieces. Cap and pipe. Where I cut it ended up being exactly where the packing material ended. Now I have a cap with the inner pipe still inside it. I was trying to separate the "inner cap" from the outter Chrome cap but no luck.

Looking down into the can I see 4 tubes. 2 at the same level and of same size, 1 higher up than the other 2 and its wider, and then the cut one which went out the tail pipe. It also looks like there are levels. Where I was planning on cutting I would be under the next "level".

Anyways...what in gods name do I do next? Do I make my second cut and just line up the innerpipe on the cap as best I can with the cut innerpipe still in the can? Will they even line up?

I was thinking about cutting the can and leaving the pipe that goes out the tail to full length. Then somehow cut the innerpipe piece out of the cap and slide my cap over that long innerpipe left on the can and then cut it down to size and weld the chrome cap back on. Get what I mean? But **** I dont even know if that will work.

Some clear explaination would be appreciated. I'd hate to F this whole thing up.

I thought you were supposed to drill the rivets out of the end cap, take the cap off, cut off as much as you want from the pipe, and put the cap back on the tip with new rivets

F4I pipes are welded, not riveted. I cut mine off at the cap and just left that inner tube in and works fine. It doesn't seem restricted and it doesn't sound like ****.

the end cap is not riveted on like other pipes. Its all welded together. I dont know what you got, but its obv. not the same as what I got.

I had an 99 R6 shorty pipe with the riveted cap. I should have kept the damn thing to see if it would fit the f4i. Prolly a long shot but who knows.

Anyone else feel free to give input on what the hell I need to do to this pipe

did you cut before the chamber Wall, or after. I can look down inside the can and see the "divider". I had marked my line where I was going to make the 2nd cut about an inch after the mounting bracket but then I would definately be cutting more than 1 chamber out. What I need to know basically is when this **** is cut am I guna have to weld the inners first then the case. And if so. How do I get the inners apart from the case?
