Yes STAY ON the ins co! They will ALWAYS try to tell you no first, don't make it easy for them to get off the hook. If all else fails consult legal advise on the matter and then go back to the ins co telling them as much.
I would not play the quiet game and see if anyone mentions anything, that is a long shot & the LONGER YOU WAIT, THE FARTHER AWAY IT GETS, and the less likely to ever be recovered, kinda like kidnapping or a lost pet. It is not likely to be seen on the streets nearby, but it may still be local if you act fast. So offer a reward while the thing may still be somewhere recoverable. Put lil flyers with a picture in all the mailboxes around.. Hell, sidewalk chalk a message on your frickin driveway for all to see!
