Laugh at me...
Re: Laugh at me...
Well my wrists are sore as hell. This was the first time I just went to a lot specifically to practice...
Grr... I can get the wheel up a bit, but I'm having trouble hitting the RPM's to gt it there unless I initially grip the throttle with my hand a bit more forward than regular riding(if that makes sense). When I do hit about 8K-9K RPM's, the front wheel comes up...
That is unless I drop the clutch too quickly (is that possible?). Seems the slower I release it (within reason of course), the more consistently the wheel comes up (as long as I have hit the RPM's).
So anyway, my wrists hurt, my hands hurt and I'm not very consistent after about an hour of solid, real practice
Seems easier though at a much lower speed, I've been consistent at about 15MPH.
So I guess I'm curious if you guys position your hand differently when clutching to get that extra throttle or what?
Thanks for all the help!
(I need to find some riders around here but they're all dormant for the winter... pussies)

an hour ain't gonna cut it, gotta keep practicing.
start slower, on my F2 i'm most comfy clutching from 1-0 mph, i just use alot less gas and have much more RPM's to play with before hitting BP.
you'll learn, just keep practicing, and ALWAYS keep your foot on the rear brake, if you feel even a LITTLE bit like your going over, hit it.
Re: Laugh at me...
"oh yes tom, hes chasing them wheelies like a damn greyhound chases a fake squirrel at a dog track"
Re: Laugh at me...
So I put another hour into it yesterday...
I think I got the clutching down. It's kinda knacky in the way it's done. I don't know that you can really teach that, seems one of those things you have to feel. Anyway, I slowed down a lot, about 5MPH, and hitting less RPM's (8K)... comes up everytime now.
The next thing I think is breaking myself from using too much brake and dropping the front. What do you guys think, is it better to use the brake to balance you or do you use the cluctch and throttle when you're up (but still covering the brake)?
Do you keep the throttle moving, or do you feather it up and down to suit your balance?
What should I work on first, getting the front real high and getting used to the feeling, or practicing "blancing" the front wheel by working the throttle and clutch - or do you work on them both at the same time?
Haha, I got so many questions, I need some people nearby that actually know what their talking about.

Re: Laugh at me...
Okay, so although I actually haven't searched for them, I have seen a few videos on the net on how to wheelie.
One video was particularly good. It actually seemed to, 'help."
Here's the deal, they teach the power wheelie first, then clutching it up, then riding the rear brake.
My question is this:
Will an F3 come up by rolling back on the throttle in first? That dude was getting his 636 up with no problem this way (actually, he was getting it up easily with every method). So, is the 636 just a wheelie machine, or do most of these tips really carry over to most all sportbikes?
I "learned" to wheelie by clutching up in first at about 25mph. I felt comfortable doing it, but it still gave me the ol' butterflies in the stomach because of the somewhat out of control feeling.
Regardless of how this is answered, I'm leaving in a few and I'm going to try it
I just wanna know if the stock F3 is capable of doing it this way, and if so, maybe some tips on speed and power wheelies in other gears???
Go ahead, laugh you bastards.

you can try my fiddy also if you want, and learn brake control.. But it takes a while to get the hang of that little ******

At first I was clutching em at about 20-25mph in first, getting it up near balance point by around 35-40 and riding it out tell around 55-60..
Then after I learned balance point, I kept on working on getting it slower tell I started clutching it up from damn near a complete stop
Re: Laugh at me...
careful with gettin it up too high. i dont have the bp down yet but i was conquering my fear of getting the front tire up at 12 oclock, then settin it back down. then... THE A$$ BRUISING INCIDENT occurred. now i'm back to taking my time with it. dont rush to wheelie on the interstate at high speeds, kid, trust me. clutch it up and learn to be consistent.
Re: Laugh at me...
power wheelies on a 600 are dangerous because you have to take it to about 8000rpm in 1st then let off and smack it again and it comes up too fast to control...
you can clutch a wheelie sooooooooooooo much smoother.. and never forget to cover your rear brake..
power wheelies arent cool unless your bike will do them at 100+ and a 600 is not gonna do that..

Re: Laugh at me...
1st off power whoolies are ghey, all they do is make you look like even more of a squid then you really are. 2nd get someone to get you on video and post it up so we can give you advice on what your doing wrong and how to correct it. and lastly take your time it sounds like your dedicated but if you try and do to much to fast you'll end up hurting yourself and your bike (not to say that, thats not going to happen taking your time, but its less likely).
