Re: anybody else hate breaking in a new bike?

In my opinion, the SV is a good bike, for track days and shooting around town, but for stuntin' you might as well drive that B**** off a launch ramp into a lake. .02

And yes I drive an 06 sv650s. Love the thing. Wheelies rock all day long. Except for the clattering sound I am starting to get in the motor, but when I change the oil it goes away. And in the first gen. version the oil pick ups SUCKED. But the newer ones have a little wall or some crap that keeps the oil from flooding the back of the motor. one year and 15,000 miles later. I love the thing. It has never been to the shop except for the four new tires I have put on the back. and only one for the front. So I am happy.

As for breaking it in, I just rode it like I stole it. works great for me.

the motor might not last quite as long, but if you're gonna stunt it, it's not going to last forever anyway.

I had almost 50,000 miles on my 94 900rr (original motor) and still ran strong, and about 20,000 on a 01 gsxr1000 and still ran like new,my theory is if it's gonna break I want it to be in the warranty period

Re: anybody else hate breaking in a new bike?

i already tried the whole break it in how your gonna ride it.....in november i bought it and i had it for a day. i wheelied the **** out of it. i only put 70 miles on it b4 i had to take it back to the shop cause it was making a weird noise...then the motor blew. so i just got it back with a new motor and tranny. so i'm gonna try the nicer breaking it in this time.

that's dizzo, 6 or 7 motors and a bunch of different oil pickups and stuff. He can swap the motor out with the standard tool kit and bought a 929 i think. Christian Pfeiffer used to ride one and take a spare bike with him to shows for when the first blew up I was told on an sv forum

Re: anybody else hate breaking in a new bike?

i know what you mean. when i first got my suzuki i couldnt wait to open it up. but now i heard from several sources its a waste of time because the engines are pre-broken in at the factory because they are tested and ran for hours and hours before they are shipped out. pretty much the only thing u gotta break in is the brakes.

It wasn't the break in that blew your motor... it's an SV, they don't like wheelies... nuff said.

This is a very good write up on why you should hammer it right off the lot.

First 50 miles are most important to get the best ring sealing...
