Sick Innovations Cage

Ok, I got my SI Cage and 12 bar for christmas this morning (finally) and I went out to put it on after all the craziness, and I ran into a little thing thats probably no big deal but I figured I would ask anyways.

The middle bolt that goes into the motor mount, is too small for the bolt that goes into the mount. The actual threads wont make it through, its too small of an opening. I would imagine that it just got a little plugged up when it was in powder coat.

Anyways I was just making sure thats what it was before I go sticking a drill bit in there and wallering it out to make it fit.

Thanks for any help...

Re: Sick Innovations Cage

ya just drill that ****** out, or hammer the bolt through without messing up the threads

Re: Sick Innovations Cage

you might have to get longer ones depending on the length they are now, sometimes that thickness of the cage makes a world of difference on how it bolts up!!

use a drill or a dremel tool to clean off the powder coat or even make that hole bigger, you'll be fine!!

good luck

Re: Sick Innovations Cage

hm......some KC people here I don't recognize.........sup?

Sure I could get that cage and shyt to fit good! If you're running a bar on an R6 you better reinforce the shyt outta that subframe or never set it on the bar faster or harder than 1/8000th of a mph.

But ive been riding for a long time so I may have met a few of the guys out here just from going to the spots and watching or ended up riding with a few of you.

Re: Sick Innovations Cage

I rock the sick innov cage and round bar on my f4i now and got a few suggestions for si.......the cage bolted up easy after i figured out that the spacers only go on the left side, they should have some directions to save the 5 minutes. also, the all thread was too short. luckily i had some so it was no big deal. the welds on the round bar bowed the side mounts in, if that makes sense. so we had to cut the weld on the bottom near the brace and then re-weld it when it was installed on the bike. they should acct for this with a bigger plate across the rear. other than that **** seems solid.

Re: Sick Innovations Cage

ian is working on that. i think he's going to print that on the sales invoice now that the spacers go on the left.

if we are on the subject of suggestions, the only thing else i suggest is getting flange head bolts or allen head bolts for everything because putting a 14mm socket in the cage to tighten stuff up doesn't work too well...my sockets kept getting stuck in there.

love the cage though

Tru Dat, I just got done putting mine on and thank god I already had the allen bolts from my previous frame sliders.

The cage went on SUPER tight, it was like, one millimeter too tight on one bolt and all the other ones were out of line, I dont know if thats how its supposed to be or if the whole cage was just a little off? Anyways I got the cage and 12 bar on (that metal on the 12 bar is a bitch to drill through) and the look like theyre gonna hold up great. I was a little worried about how little the sub-frame bar you have to drill into for the 12 bar would hold up, but once I got it all put together it feels super stiff.

thanks to everyone who gave me some hits and tips

Shouldnt have had to cut and reweld. They fit snug. You just to tap them on. We want them to fit tight. There is no need ofr a bigger plate across the back. I dont know when you purchased the round bar, but they are all gussetted now. Looped a rev coaster and slammed the bar.. Didnt bend. We are workin on installation instructions. Thanks for the tips though. we always want to hear everyones feedback and concerns.
