Re: 929 help greatly appreciate it
same problem with my buddies 2000 929. it sat in the garage for a year. we went to fire it up and the bike comes on, but no fuel pump. so we checked the fuel pump...12volts to it causes it to work fine. We checked tipover sensor, it's good, checked clutch and sidestand switches, they are good, we replaced the ECU with a new one, no change, put a whole new wiring harness on the bike with new ecu...still no change. it's a mystery. it's been 6 months of working and we still haven't figured it out yet. nothing was done to the bike while it was sitting. rode it in the garage, turned it off, year later tried to turn it back on.

so you turn the key and the fuel pump turns on, but nothing else comes on and teh bike doesn't turn over? that doesn't really seem possible that the fuel pump comes on and nothing else does because a lot of that **** runs from the same power source.
Re: 929 help greatly appreciate it
what part of the bike won't turn on? might be an ignition problem. they use diodes to change the voltage on those things so you can't just jump 12v across to see if it works.

interesting, headlight and no start button. i had this problem with my 929 exactly. it ended up being a bad ground in the wiring harness. it was intermittent problem, then one day just wouldn't work. i went through everything and noticed when i moved stuff around it finally started. checked it all over and found a bad ground.
you might want to just bite the bullet and spend 50-100$ on a wiring harness and save yourself trouble. that's what i did for my gixxer hwen i couldn't figure it out and everything worked out fine and i didn't have to worry about it catching on fire when i was riding it because the harness was new and had no problems.
