tire pressure issues.... or maybe its just me.
so i did a little bit of experiementing today..... i dropped tire pressure, and played with idle adjustments. did a few wheelies, and they felt a ton better... but i didn't drop the pressure extremely, so i decided to drop some more.
i didnt have my tire guage on hand, just my compresser.... so i couldnt tell exactly what psi i was at. it got to the point that my direction got shitty, height was fine... speed was fine, but man oh man.... the bike was tracking for a direction.
so i put inflation back up, to where the tire barely flexes when i press it by hand..... went for a quick flogging on it, and **** was CAKE!
bike traveled straight as an arrow, and came directly up... without the initial spin of the tire.
but it just has me thinking, my tire was nowhere near low enough to even look like most of the guys at the lots, but why was it straying all over the road? i am straight as hell when i am on full inflation, i thought i would be alot smoother on low pressure..
anyone got some ideas bout that, or do i just suck? prolly just suck....... huh?

Low tire pressure isn't always a good thing.. People just have it in there head that its easier and they stick with it.

that tire pressure thing threw me off abunch though.... i will get back to trying to catch idle tomorrow, just rocking the pressure i got... or going back to stock that is.

I run about 26psi in my rear. And I have discovered that if I run to low pressure, I over correct the bike when it goes to one side and it makes me vobble more.

yeah... i think that is what happened to me. i seemed to wanna keep the bike corrected, naturally... but havent experienced that with more inflation. makes me wonder how the bike feels, when i see those damnear flat tires.
Re: tire pressure issues.... or maybe its just me.
in my opinion..
faster wheelies w/ low psi = unstable, squared tire flexes more
faster wheelies w/ high psi = stable, tire does not flex side to side as much
idle wheelies w/ low psi = stable, increase surface area contact with the ground
idle wheelies w/ high psi = unstable for the inexp. rider, requires more body english to control however the bike feels more flexible (?)
just what ive learned over time. i like to run 20-22psi all around, but then again i rarely rock the freeway with the bs traffic up here.

I run 31 in my rear. It was touchy at first but now that i'm use to it it's alot better to control the bike.
For me when I correct my wobblies I kinda make the correction and hold it. More or less i control the bike and make it stay stable after the first wobble. probably not making sense right now.
Ok, if it starts to wobble to the left, I correct by pulling back to the right a little and hold it there for a second. that way i'm in control and not reacting to the bike.
Also, it will help you to learn to catch idle better if your tire pressure is higher because it will be more responsive when you let off of the brake. when the pressure is low it kinda bogs the motor a little more and you'll have to blip the throttle more often.

i usually run 20psi in the rear. it just does not feel right to me w/ any less. bump to 25 if i hit the street.
tires have something to do with it also. i had a pilot power for a while and hated it. too much of a lean angle on it. had to drop to 15 to keep from fighting the lean all the time. im runnin these concept tires the michelin guy gave my local shop right now to test them and they are the shiznit. super hard compound so they spin when you want them to but they still hook up when clutching up. if they get enough positve feedback they are gonna start producing them. dont know when but ill post up if it ever happens. 20psi and its gravy.

Funny you say that...
I just learned circles on a pilot power and I can only do them at like 13-15psi... anything higher and the bike is all over the place.
Yeah it'll turn into a circle easier, but it turn right out of it just as easy.
I actually love the powers but for me perfect presures are 12 cold in the back and 28 up front.
Re: tire pressure issues.... or maybe its just me.
its all preference and what you learn on. i run pilots with 18 psi to the rear and it gravy for circles, combos, etc. However it take a little more effort to get them to lite up for burnouts
Re: tire pressure issues.... or maybe its just me.
tires have everything to do with everything. i used to run olskoo d208s but decided on pilot power 2s (takeoffs) for the longest thinking they hook the best. these tires never wore evenly and were the most ****ing unstable tire i ever ran. after a month of decent riding they would thin out and look like a bicycle tire, with one side having more wear. i switched to qualifiers and by far one of the best tires ive ran.will be using them until i find something to ***** about, which i dont think will happen anytime soon.

I just learned em, so I'm sure as with everything else... once I get better/comfortable they will be easier w/ higher presures.
