bp/stoppie=wobble

I've been practising my stoppies a lot lately, I still don't have much distance. I average about 40' and I've rolled my best one at maybe 60 ft. I know its because I'm still not hitting the balance point.
My problem is........when I do feel that i'm at or near bp, I get a lot of wobble from the front. I have almost gone down a couple times from it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Any help tips would be nice. Like I said, I only get the wobble when the bike is way up near b/p. When its down low and I'm just useing my speed for distance I don't have the problem.

Re: bp/stoppie=wobble

if u wanna roll high stoppies and not power stoppies, u need a damper....also lower ur tire pressre to liek 20 lbs, and dont go faster than like 40 and that shud help keep the shakes to a min

Re: bp/stoppie=wobble

damper will save your ***, your own fault its slapping. try looking straight ahead, lifting off the seat and squeezing the tank with your knees and keeping elbows locked.

I've been doing all of that except I think I'm not keeping my elbows locked enough. I'm gunna concentrate on that next time out.

Re: bp/stoppie=wobble

I just started rolling them too about 2 weeks ago... I have a dampner just a crappy one. I get really high just don't feel comfortable pullling them up over 35-40 ish.. You can get some good distance at those speeds though...

Re: bp/stoppie=wobble

Yeah, I've read that at 40 mph your should be able to roll well over 100 ft. I go about 55mph and I roll about 50 ft.
Getting up to b/p scares the **** outa me when it starts to wobble.

Re: bp/stoppie=wobble

turn your clip-ons out. also think about getting after market clip-ons and flipping them, it makes your stoppies alot more agressive and controlable. almost like dirt bike bars but u can keep your bike full fairinged.

Get a damper. Your elbows alone won't save you

Re: bp/stoppie=wobble

I dont have a damper on my f4i,stock front end, was nailing like 3 hundo the other day by my work w/o any issues. Bottom line is make sure your front end is even and all tightened up, dampers are a + too though.

Not from a 100ft. approach, though. You know not to jack it up too high when you're cookin' ***.

Yeah, I don't want to learn that way. I'm gunna slow my speed down to about 40 mph when I'm doing them until I can get a damper.
I know I can still go down hard at that speed, but its better than going down at 60mph.

Wont a bad front tire make that thing wobble as well?
