tank manuvers advice....
Re: tank manuvers advice....
its hard with an r6 with stock tank and clipons but you will get more commfy and you will start to lean back more and that will lift your legs

iF THE BIKE WERE UP A LITTLE MORE YOU COULD LEAN BACK A PINCH AND YOUR LEGS WOULD BE STRAIGHT OUT. BUT GO INTO IT SLOWLY, PICS LOOK GREAT THOUGH. HOW FAR ARE YOU ABLE TO GO LIKE THAT, iF FOR ONLY ONE GEAR WOUND OUT, lEAN A LITTLE FARTHER BACK AND YOU WILL BE RIDDING STRAIGHT.
Re: tank manuvers advice....
im not reading what everyone wrote so if someone already said this o well. to do a real nice spreader (you were talking about not being flexible enough) you've gotta stretch out your hamstrings man. im dead serious. stretch em out day in and out as many ways as you can and you'll see the flexibility when you lift up your legs for the spreader. just my opinion but try it
Re: tank manuvers advice....
hb helps alot. As for the tank question, if you dent your tank in it will take a lot of the stress of holding on, off your arms, making it much easier to manipulate the controls and you can ride them much longer. Before i dented my tank in i had a difficult time doing spreaders because i was squeazing the tank with my legs to hold on denting my tank in took care of this problem. I personally dont like the grip tape becuase it makes it hard to manuver on the tank. I like to slide back a little to help bring my legs through the bars and back out, Instead of grip tape I got some of that rubber spray out of a can and put about 5 coats on and springled a little sand in it and this worked out really good.

Start your dent like this with a hard plastic mallet:

Go to a Pep Boys or Auto Zone and buy 1 can of this:

Use a Paint Remover Wheel to clean out your dent to bare metal, tape off the area u want sprayed then after 3-4 coats you will have this:

Purdy id'nt it?

my tank is still minty, but i have some really crazy grip tape on there. it ****s up my shirts and jeans, lol. leaves holes in my t's, but hassnt messed up my jeans beyond a really trendy freyed look.
but anyway my questions are...
1: what are the more comfortable methods you guys use doing tank stunts? does seating position matter that much, sitting closer to the bars, farther back by the seat etc. i have a spare tank, and i was thinking about denting it. do i really need to dent the tank to be successful in those stunts?
2: is it just me not being flexible, or is it just the seating position to properly get my positioning for a descent looking spreader.
(and before anyone says it.... yes the bike is at balance point, not accelerating... i just obviously can't slow it down due to no handbrake. which is a nono
but i had to try and see what its all about.)
3: should i hold off on trying highchairs?? cause i was thinking about trying that today too... but i should probably wait till i decide if i am gonna run a handbrake huh?

1. Seating will position will mainly affect the appearance of your spreader. Do whats most comfortable for you when you're learning. Yes, you do need to dent your tank.
2. Flexibility will help, postioning again will change the apprearance. If you're on the back of the tank and you roll onto your tailbone it will look like your legs are real high.
3. You dont need a Hand Brake for highchairs and spreaders and you can slow them down with engine break.

i only do em in first gear, and seldomly can i get the rpm to drop. most of the time, i am clutching it up... then just smoothing out the rpms, but i am scared to get it up that high instantly. ....so while i am up on the wheelie, i am usually stupid high in the rpm's, i can see my shift light blairing!
like i said... i will work on that, because it looks like a sick bird...
i have only done 9 so far, and i will keep practicing:YEAH
