Re: gas tank crack

if its cracked you need to grind it down and jb weld it but if its just some creases grind it down and use body filler followed by a glazing putty and some good 2k primer..

Re: gas tank crack

just sand it and roughen it up a bit so that the jb weld has something to grab to and then jb weld it with the original jb not the kwik stuff and you will be fine. My old tank on my streetbike was jb welded like that 2 years ago and has never leaked a drop..

Re: gas tank crack

dont use JB weld it sucks, well when i used it, it did. Anyway, Use QUICK STEEL. Within 15 minutes you can drill, tap, sand, etc etc. The stuff is amazing!! Local Kragen auto store...

Re: gas tank crack

gas tanks are thin and its hard to get a tig torch not to burn through. if you want it done right, have the cracks brazed.

unless you dont mind a mouth full of gas.

Re: gas tank crack

You overworked the creas in the dent if it cracked. JB weld that **** with the marine/gas-proof JB Weld then bondo it and make the tank perfect!!

Re: gas tank crack

get it down to the metal and jb weld it if it's a crack, for a crease just try to hammer it out, use a hammer not a mallet, i've had both problems while re-denting my tank, i hammered out the crease and it resulted in a small crack, the jb weld fixed the crack great
