wrist problems??
Myself and a few others like Pat, Brandon-Mototrix,Litle Nick, are all suffering from seroius gangsta pains in the left wrist, and hand. we have been told it could be like carpel tunnle, stress fractures etc. Its so serious that you will wake up in your sleep in pain. Pain killers, Anti inflamatories dont even put a dent in the pain.. Whats the deal?/ Anyone else feelin this??
Back in 99' I crashed my bike and hyper-extended my left wrist. I get pretty bad wrist clutch pain on my bike. Alot of the times I have to ride one handed to let it rest. Anyways to this day it still hurts from time to time off the bike. From 99' to 02' it would get so bad that I would have to go to the doctor and get a cortizone shot. I finally figured out how to keep it under control. When I was little my mom would give me IB Prophen for pains and Tylenol for headaches, so I'm used to IB Prophen. I found that the best anti-inflamatorie is Alieve. Take 2 Alieve and take 2 more 8 hours later, then 8 hours after that take another. That should really help with the pain, but you have to do the 8 hour follow up pills or it won't do any good for the pain you, I, or anyone else has in there wrist. Then you'll need to get one of those Ace Bandages and wrap your wrist when you go to sleep, at work, or whenever you can. The only way it will feel better is if you let it rest by not moving it. The pain should pretty much go away if you do the Alieve and Ace Bandage. Once it feels better, stop with the pills and bandage. Then when it starts up again, repeat all that crap I typed. I've been to both Family Doctors and Orthodedic Specialists plus personal experience, so you can trust me or not it's up to you. Remember to stay ahead of the pain and it can't hurt to where the bandage to bed alot.
I feel your pain bro, except mine is in the left knee. All I can say is this, if it aint completely broken, don't fix it!! Once a doctor gets in there and messes around, it will never be the same again!
I have the same problem, although I'm sure I ride far less than you guys. I spend alot more time on my dirtbikes than I do on my streetbike, and never have a problem when riding off-road. Alot of it for me has to do with my posture when I'm riding. I find that if I use my back muscles to hold myself up, and keep the weight off my hands, it helps the problem alot. Also heard a hydraulic clutch is nice for pussies that whine about their left hand hurting from the clutch.
i dont get it from the clutch, but i get this pain in my left palm that shoots about up to my elbow. hurts like a bitch, but i only get it if ive been riding like all day (8-10 hours). ive been trying to put my hand on the bar different and ride one handed alot and it seems to help a bit.
i feel ya ant finger tips are constantly numb and the pain in the hand to the elbow dont get me started if i had insurance i would go to the doctor but ill just keep riding it will work the kinks out eventually right
Yup my left wrists is jacked! I think it something like capral tunnel. I can't even do coasters cause when I pull in the clutch at 12 I get a huge sharp pain in my wrist. They have those bands for capral tunnel that takes the pressure of the tendons in your wrists, guess it's time to start riding with that all the time!
The remedy
Get a hand squeeze ball of any sort and use it. Stretch your wrist and arms before, during a break and after riding.
This will loosen up the muscles that are causing the pain.
Stretching is the most important part.

hey ant what clutch springs you got in that puppy, i had problems with them heavy duty springs, so i went back to the stock jammies, i had carpal tunnel scince i was young, i am an electrician, so i turn alot of screwws. i got a glove sort of thing that helps a real lot, the best thing to do is see a phisical therapist they got exercises you can do..........i guess clutches and throtles arent ergonomic, theres an idea for that P.O.B. guy, invent some type of ergonomic clutch lever!
Just keep riding. When I had not ridden for a while (a week), mine would hurt the first day and get worse until day 4 or 5. If I kept riding consistently it would go away in about 2 weeks. Now however, my right wrist bothers me on long rides more than my left. A 3/5 throttle does me in faster than Barnett springs. No pain, no gain.
Thank God you said something Ant. I've had that problem for already 4 months. It's weird because i'm the only one in my crew that has this problem. I was beginning to think i had AIDS in my wrist.
This past week has gotten so bad that i need to take 2 excedrin before I stunt. Which it helps a lot by the way. Everytime we gas up to go stunn i buy the excedrin that comes in 2 packets.
