installing a 12 bar

Please give me some hints and tips as how to install a 12 bar correctly. I heard there it a measurement you take off of your back tire to get it alighned properly.

Also is there a clean way to install the 12 bar without completely ****ing up the rear plastics?

I am thinking of purchasing this 12 bar. Please look at it for me and give me the pros and cons. Thanks

Looks like an Fi bar, they are simple to install. Clamp it on the subframe, make sure both sides are aligned and drill, thats about it. Flip your bike up to make sure it hits flush.

As for the plastics, you can measure and cut, but c'mon, they are gonna get fkced regardless!!!

what he said. if you are really concerned, what i did was i did a lil google-in' and found a page that had step by step and pic instructions, jsut to be sure i wasnt gonna make any newbie mistakes, but it is realy self explanitory.

also, what i did when i was making sure it was adjusted right, was my buddy and i picked the bike up to 12 o'clock and made sure it would park on the 12, it did, and looked staraight as hell. it also helped to make sure i would scrape at 12 and not like 1, lol.

good luck

The easiest way is to eyeball it and just make sure that the it is gonna scrape on the top half of the plate and not the bottom or else it will dig in, then just throw it in gear and have a friend help you set it back onto the 12 bar... just make adjustments after that.

Re: installing a 12 bar

couldne't you just say, run a level between the rear tire and 12 bar, and if its a perfect 90 degree angle to the ground its 12?

You could, but then it won't tell you how the bike scrapes. The 12 bar may be plum with the rear tire, but the right side of the bar is farther back than the left. What you would want to do is use a level to make sure the 12 bar is plum with the back tire and then take a measuring tape and measure from the center bolt that holds your forks on. On my FI bar, it measures 55 1/2 inches from that center bolt to both corners of my FI bar. I drilled and bolted everything up, and set it on 12 and it was perfect. Just make sure your measurements are correct b/c if they aren't you'll scrape on one side or the other and that'll be a quick way to spend more money on crash cages, clip-ons, etc...

Re: installing a 12 bar

Almost EVERYONE wrecks within the first 5 or 6 times of scraping a bar, it's just a fact of stunting!
