Re: Frame Change

Leave as much assembled as you can. Like don't take wheels off but the whole swingarm and front end and stuff.

Re: Frame Change

don't take the wiring harness off the motor... just ball it all up and stick it on top of the motor where the starter motor is (tape it up if needed). then when you drop the motor in the new frame you just pull out the wiring already hooked up and that's it... i guess leave the subframe wiring if you can just unplug it, but if not then just pull the subframe through the frame so it's still connected. It's easier than it sounds

I was looking at the bike and thinking i could lift the frame off??? YOu know support the engine, unbolt the swingarm and sub frame and rigt before im ready to switch unbolt the forks, and just set the new frame down....I hope!!??? LOL!!!

I will let everyone knows how it goes, Im sure a wrench will fly into the wall a few times before its all over!!

Re: Frame Change

Make sure to use lock tite on EVERYTHING

And torque the IMPORTANT bolts (foot pegs, swingarm, engine mounts, brakes)

Every bike i'v bought in my life, bolts have jiggled lose from the factory, or previous owner..

But i'v swaped frames on 2 bikes, and not one bolt jiggles loose that I torque and lock tite.....

This works good, i've done it this way and it's easy as hell. Pull everything else off, swingarms, forks.......til you just have the motor and frame and support the motor, make sure you don't use the oil pan, and unbolt the motor and any wiring harness holders and just pull the frame off. I had to use a rubber mallet and smack the frame from underneath a few times before it popped loose but then you can just put the new frame right on and you don't have to worry about much wiring and how everything is run. Becareful of motor spacers(if your bike has them) and note where they all go.
