Cage vs Sliders

So as some of you know I've been having trouble finding a cage for my 93 zx6. So the guy I'm having paint my bike suggested just doing sliders.

He said he could get 'em so they would protect the engine covers and engine.

Is that a good idea? What levels of protection to cages and sliders give (ie frame engine plastics)...

Re: Cage vs Sliders

Try and find someone to fabricate a custom cage.. Even with a manufactured cage you can still bust plastics. Sliders are to help save you from minor scratches if the bike is to tip over at a standstill.

thats what i have fear off but i guess the real frame sliders have only 1 too, thats why the cages are better they have more mounting points so its harder for them to break when theres a lot of em

Re: Cage vs Sliders

LISTEN if your getting a sick paint job... Then you need race rails... cages are big and bulky... rails are sleek and sexy... Need I say more? If your not getting a sick paint job then get a cage... goto any machine shop... they can do it

Re: Cage vs Sliders

if you seen a set of railz and seen the design behind them you would never look at sliders again.

Re: Cage vs Sliders

Definitely get the rails........sliders just bend and are basically for looks, they wont protect anything over 3MPH. JUst hope that it only tips over in the garage if you've got sliders.

Re: Cage vs Sliders

I want teh power railz for my 6rr, problem is they dont mount in the same place as my sliders do, so I'd have to cut another slot into the fairing, and then I'd still have 2 holes from the regular sliders... but the power railz is what I've been looking at, unless I can get another set of fairings I'm stuck..
