Cutting down a Micron pipe
Cutting down a Micron pipe
Anybody ever cut one of these down? It's a carbon fiber pipe, but there's no rivets or anything on the ends??? Haven't taken it apart yet. Just wanted to know if anyone has shortened a Micron pipe, and how they did it???
Re: Cutting down a Micron pipe
yes i have... Microns are a little more involved than riveted slipons... I had to have it re-welded because the core holds everything together... but here's the basics.
Take the end cap off (theres a small hex screw inside the outlet), then cut desired inches off of the core. Make sure to mark the core so the welder can put it back together in correct position... if not, the screw in the endcap won't line up and the pipe will fall apart.
Cut the EXACT same ammt off of the sleeve. It's gotta be the same length or the sleeve will either be too lose or not fit back on. Have the core welded, then pop the end cap back on and put the screw back. Done.
