Re: hand brake vs foot brake

like your boy said learn the foot brake first , there are going to be many times you'll need foot brake more than hand ! ! ! just practice the foot and in the end your hand brake skills will even be easier !

everyone has the list, it's programmed into thier conciousness at birth, althought not everyone calls it thier "squid list" and LOTS of poeple ignore it all the time.

some poeple call it "common sense"

Re: hand brake vs foot brake

Other than using your foot or your fingers they are both the same. Break control is being able to work or feather the brake (which is an on/off or pumping action not mashing or riding the brake) in the bp while keeping it from going on the bar, coming back down on two wheels, or stalling...

Keep practicing it will just click one day.

Good luck

Re: hand brake vs foot brake

yea, I usteo be a squid, i bought so much **** for my gsx-r 750 befor i even knew how to use it. I tried learning foot brake but couldnt, so i tried going to hand brake... well - I totaled my bike a month ago and now have a pretty much stock f4i with a cage on it and im learning MUCH quicker.

this pic was taken yesterday... day 2 of riding my f4i...

yea its just a stoppie and not a wheelie but still, take it one step at a time and learning will be easier.

Learn the footbrake first. I had the same situation and it caused me a lot of problems. I started on a bike with both. The handbrake was much easier to learn for me, so I got great with the handbrake first, which made it even tougher to learn to instinctively use the footbrake. In my opinion the handbrake is much easier to learn. Force yourself to learn footbrake first, the handbrake will come pretty easy anyway, it's going to be harder to pick up footbrake control if you learn handbrake first, at least in my experience. If your buddy has a fiddy, force yourself to learn footbrake on that.
