Alternative to dented tank
Alternative to dented tank
I'm sitting here at work hungthefockover and have nothing better to do so I thought I would bring something up that has crossed my mind a few times. In addition to riding streetbikes and dirtbikes, I ride PWC's and there is a wonderful product out there for them called Hydroturf.http://hydroturf.com/products.php?ca...man=Hydro-Turf
I'm not at the level of doing highchairs and spreaders so I don't really know, but I can't help but think that this stuff would hold you to the tank like glue without tearing the *** out of your jeans. If you have ridden a PWC with Hydroturf mats on it, you know what I am talking about.
Any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with those, never surfed before. Does it work well?
Re: Alternative to dented tank
I don't do spreaders and all that good stuff but from my experience in surfing the grip pads hold like glue on your foot atleast. You could always apply surf wax to your tank, but then you'd have a waxy ***

cuase there is a lip there, niot just friction holding you on.
althought i know a couple guys running dented tanks and surf board tape on their tanks. the pad prolly acts as somewhat of a cushion.

Re: Alternative to dented tank
you need a dent and a grip imo a dent also lowers you on the tank your not way up high and its easier to reach your clip ons...falling off the tank at balance point is no joke, with a handbrake or not..im gonna try the surf pad tho cuz grip tape tears my jeans up hardcore
Re: Alternative to dented tank
a surfboard pad like this would be good cause it's multiple pieces and you could spread them out to where you want them on the tank. it also has a killer lip on the back. I would still dent the tank though.

uh yeah its no joke...
i need dented tank and grip tape to stay on, haven't tried surfboard pad yet, but i get griptape for free and dont really care if it rips holes...
Re: Alternative to dented tank
surfboard grip pads are awesome. You don't have to dent your tank in and it doesn't wear out your pants. You can do any tank trick and you don't have to worry about slipping off. They last a long time too. I think it was a pretty obvious thing to do seeing as how we're in hawaii and a lot of people surf.
