busted fork seals
Re: busted fork seals
honda fork seals are well strong though.. I've slammed down a fair few wheelies whilst learning slow stuff ... sometimes when it comes up a bit higher than expected and ya give it a bit too much back brake and the front comes down with a bang
but despite that my seals are still FINE.. top job to Honda :YEAH

mine lasted for ever just doing faster stuff on the street, but as soon as I started learning slow stuff they blew...the sv is a heavy *** bike to slam wheelies down on..I used to have a honda and those forks seals held up like a champ..
Re: busted fork seals
I just replaced mine for the first time on my '99 F4. has over 40k on the bike. Nothing slow really, mostly highway wheelies but a few hard slams, 2 loops and a couple lost controls for various reasons, at 45mph or higher. Honda's are beasts.
Oh yeah, and i only had to replace one side. the other i just had to top off with fluid. It will go sooner than later, but hey, if it aint broke yet, dont fix it.

Re: busted fork seals
if ur doing engine off coasters u obviously can turn the bike back on n clutch outta it. and i go through 20+ stalls a hour when im riding learning these circles n my R6 fork seals are rockin solid still. i stiffend my preload though and they are good stalls, good enough for my front fender to hit the bottom of my front cowl.

Re: busted fork seals
i think when the rubber starts to crack they leak.. cause im 330 and i gorilla scrape and mouse trape hard to the bone cause im learning...
most likely if you leave your bike outside and the rubber gets to the emelents that can be a major reason.. i change fork seals in my boys shop all the time.. i changed the seals on a gixx today and im changing the ones on my f4i tomorrow in most of the cases the rubber has cracked cause it was old or prematured.. but thats my 2 cents.. and obviously you can blow them from thick fork oil or slamming down like a fat ***** at a buffet.. thats commen sence..
