My dad had to apply for a waiver and once it was granted, boom I had my own card.

When i was 17 i would always get cc offers in the mail "you've been pre-approved" you know then i would call to activate the cc and they would ask my dob then shut me doun cuz i was a minor so i kept getting pissed so Capital one sent me an app saying i was approved for $5000 spending limit so i sent the app back lied and said i was 18(kept the same date just put one year older) put my real ss number and everything and they sent me a credit card with a $7500 spending limit at the age of 17. So then i got ambitious and applied for the CITI card and got that one too at the age of 17 with a $4000 spending limit but i also had a annual income of $31000 at 17
anyway point of story is that the only way to get a cc in your name only as a minor is to lie about ur age, but even doing that they normally catch you when they check ur ss number. For whatever reason i got away with it twice.
