Milk this! - Reality check...
Milk this! - Reality check...
So with all this trash talk of people Milking the sport i figured id point out a lil true fact and story....
My friend Ken.
Ken has never ridden a dirtbike. Ken never raced a street bike, or ever done a wheelie. Ken in fact can barely ride a bike. Its almost a challenge for ken to get to bike night without wrecking. Ken would **** himself if he had to change oil, and doesnt know there is a difference between brake fluids, and thinks that light up valve stems are the pimp sauce...
Ken is also SUZUKI Facotry sponsored with 6 GSXRs in his garage. all new. all his. all sponsored. He is also sponsored by: Shoei helmets, Galfer Brakes, and Joe Rocket Leathers, oh and DODGE gave him a free diesel also...
Ken can barely ride a bike.
Ken's job is simply to take this product and bikes that he has and go to events. To get his bikes in magazines. to get his product in videos. to do basically everything that I do... minus that whole riding thing.
there are hundreds of Ken's out there.
Anyone whos ever been to a large AMA event and really walked around the vendors areas and talked to people will know.. there are hundreds of these promoters out there..
people who know how to play the game, know business, know how to make contacts. put time into proposals and simply come through with what they say they are going to.
Reality check people.. its not called milking it.. its called work. if you want to stay in an industry, then you better find ways to always be associated with that industry...
just my
Milk this!

It is well known in so many other sports that all it takes is a little thought out and planned effort to get support. In the airshow circuits and competition aerobatic scene this is also becoming the normal. Everyone is picking up sponsorships, both the talented and un-talented. If you put the time in you can gain the support of many people. These are expensive sports and if you can find someone to pay your way go for it-

Ya there are lots of Kens out there, it's all good. They can have all the **** they got but they will never have the respect of bieng a true rider and inovater in this sport. Never have the respect of other riders and will never be remembered in the future. In the end I got all the **** Ken has but I paid for it myself thru hard work in this sport. Having the right sponsors is cool, but promoting Servin It Up is my #1 priority and in the long run is whats going to pay off.

It just boils down to what you want more and your riding style.

I think it's healthy for the sport that everyone is taking a different angle at how to be "successful". If there is a non-rider that shows his face and brings his bikes to 100 events a year and gives his sponsors what he promises them, that will help the sport. If you have the best rider in the world that has no sponsors but is out there showing the world what is possible, that will help the sport, if you have someone doing their damnded best to do a little of all of this, that will help the sport too.
I think we need to give a little respect to all these angles. I know a few people that don't care as much about being respected by fellow riders for generations to come, as much as as they care about the sport "making it" weather they are the ones making it or not.
I think we need all these types of people to make this sport something someday.
Cant we all just get along.

The deeper i get in this "sport" we have, the more i see it for the hustle that it is................................................ .. to "make it" doesnt have **** to do with your skills, just your ability to be the hustle......although that wont get you the respect and "acceptance".............
