New bike is almost done

Started it for the first time tonight in over a year. Started up without a problem.. However, after a few minutes it started to idle a little rough and the idle screw wasn't doing anything.. Then I noticed that the temp on the gauges was hopping up and down

The overflow hoses on the tank weren't connected so maybe thats it?

Any ideas?

brand new spark plugs

figured if whoever was posting couldn't figure out what it was then they weren't that much of a help anyways

did you check all your wires and connections? it was a crashed bike right? could have been a frayed wire somewhere and once it heated up it fried the wire.............. just a suggestion

**** idle could be the idle screw not being screwed in at all. take it out (just turn it left till it pulls out, its longer than u think) and move it to the throttle bodies. im thinkin ur problem is that u are running dead idle and it runs good for a min cuz its on the high warm up idle. moving the idle cable should fix that but as far as the temp sensor thats beyond me. but there could also be a connection btwn the ****ed idle and the temp sensor cuz they work together to make the cold (high) idle

I screwed it all the way in each direction and it didnt even affect the idle at all..

I have a cable going into the throttle bodies as well

Re: New bike is almost done

Now weird temps and rough idle would usually idicate a lean mixture in the carb, but I don't think that's carbed, so possibly an airleak somewhere causing it to lean out. But, I'm so new to the higher technology bikes and whatnot, so take it for what it's worth, lol.

Re: New bike is almost done

may as well hook up the 900rr idle adjustment cable while its apart, it makes a huge difference

Re: New bike is almost done

did u try turning the 900rr cable when the revs start to drop? does it run fine if u give it gas? i have only seen the opposite of wat ur talkin about...wierd temps on the gauges and idle rising then falling and so on, but never just falling.
