Racing 905 Problem

ok got my cage. looks tite. go to put it on and it does not lign up with my left side motor mounts at all. now before i get pissed i would just like to understand why it is not aligning with the mounts.if the left side rear mount is aligned, then the left side front mount will not align, and vice versa. now i have tried every angle on this thing and it will not line up. heres pics.

Re: Racing 905 Problem

its off dude, just deal with it, thats the way my 905 was on my gsxr. just put a smaller bolt in the mount and put a nut on the back side.

Re: Racing 905 Problem

yea well ill find a way around it i guess. if i paid $250 for some pieces of metal i thought i would have paid for the craftsmanship. guess not in this case.

LOL. They're way behind and playing catch up, can't handle all the orders, don't have enough staff and this is what happens...

I am (was) "sponsored" by them but have been having problems with them being BACKED UP lately too, alot of people are. MXD's on the come up though! I'll probably have one of those on my piece very soon even if I have to pay for it.

Re: Racing 905 Problem

looks like you're missing the spacer. When I have had a new cage in the past it looked off at first. All I had to do was get all the bolts on and posted before I tightened them down. Fit perfect in the end.

Re: Racing 905 Problem

Put it on a table vise. Get a piece of tubing or pipe that is larger than the cage material and bend the mounting points in the direction it needs to go. Yes you shouldn't have to do that with a brand new $250 item. But when you get something that is hand built by several different people that are always behind due to a large amount of sales sometimes that happens. How many other cage companies out there warranty thier stuff if something breaks though due to thier craftmanship?????

That sux man. I would be pissed too but all you can do now is deal with it or send it back and hope you get another one within a few weeks.

I'm on my 2nd 905 cage and i've never had a problem. Shipping always took 10 days exactly.

Dude your cage may not be off. How are you installing it? You need to follow the directions, do you have them? If not I think I may have a copy in my email. Also you have to install it, and NOT crank the bolts all the way down.. I thought my cage was off when I got it, it wasn't you just need to take your time installing it.. Get all the bolts on loose first

PM me if u need the directions..

first off loosen all the other bolts, and like nick said looks like your missing a washer go buy one at home depot dont waste 905s time trying to have them send you the magical specific one.. cause its the same ****.

im sure you can figure out how to make it fit.. just use some brain power...

Re: Racing 905 Problem

I Just looked at the pictures too..... It's not really off that much at all.

Like Kane said, you do have to loosen ALL the bolts to get it to line up. If it still doesn't line up just smack the thing with a sledge hammer to get it to line up a little better. It's not gonna ever be perfect and definately will get way worse after it hits the ground for the first time, so expect that.

It's NOT gonna be worth it to "order" a new one. Not only will you waste 905's time but your own as well waiting many, many weeks for the replacement.

alright. i was just voicing a concern. like i said i was asking all this before i get pissed and all. just asking some questions tryin to figure out whats up with this cage. i just thought it would line up without me having to mess with it since i did pay that amount for it. and its not as simple as loosening the bolts heh (the only way it will line up is with no bolts in it and even then it sticks out on the left side), looks like i gotta bend that biatch.

Re: Racing 905 Problem

Everyone has to make excuses for a product that you paid for. I dont go to the dealership to buy a new car and "expect" the alignment to be off.

One thing is true, after your first couple of crashes its never going to go on the same again.

Well said.... I had the same problem with my 905 cage, left side would not line up properly on my 929. Eventually got it on after fighting with it for a few hours and stripped my motor mounts in the process. Screw it... I didn't care at the time just wanted a cage installed on the bike.
Now lets fast forward one year... buddy orders a 905 cage for his 600rr and has the same damn problem... left side does not line up properly only his is like 1 full inch off. Sends the left side of the cage back and gets the replacement from 905 a few days later. This one is still way off!!! not as bad... but still off. We ended up doing some bending of our own and forcing it on the bike.
so to make a long story short we ended up with FI cages... can't complain because they fit like a glove, hold up well, and you don't look like a dump truck riding down the road
