My own stunt cage..blah..blah

So I had an FI cage, 2 905's and I am no means the best stunt riders out there, but I try just as hard as everyone else. So I designed my own cage.

1. Stripped Motor Mounts Blow
Solution: Don;t have it stick out so far
Add 400lb die springs under the delrin tips to take the 1st hit
Then the cage can absorb the rest of the impact.

2. Tweaked cage , the only way to get it off is saw it off.
Solution: Run Flat mounting plates. So if it does tweak you still have
effortless access to remove the cage.

So here is my prototype. Not yet perfect, but I am proud of the work and would like to share it w. you guys.

Nice design man. Yeah my 905 is bent so I have to cut it off if I want it to get off. Aaron said he'd fix it for free if I sent it in once I cut it off.

Re: My own stunt cage..blah..blah

ppl are talkin about FI and 905 tweakin bad and havin to cut them apart. What do MXD's cages do? same thing, have to be cut off?

the 400lb springs are a good idea. Squidmark has been talkin aout wanting to make a cage for our F2's. Since i dont have one yet the first one would probably go on my bike. Im stealin your idea bahahahahhaa lol. J/k

Squid mentioned the flat mout points to me today. The other thing he said is that it would make putting this cage on full fairing bikes difficult (bummer) cause its an good idea.

FI cages have individual components that can be replaced in the event of tweakage (sliders, chromoly loop, braces that go to subframe...all are replaceable). I've been rocking the chromoly cage for awhile and it's freakin great. No cage is indestructable. All will fail after enough crashes! And something is definately better then nothing. ....but, it's way better then back in the day when there wasn't cages and when you did crash, you were going home with a busted cover! Your design looks good though. Let us know how it holds up.

Re: My own stunt cage..blah..blah

that subframe mount where the cage bolt goes into will not hold all the abuse.

i would re direct the cage rear mount somewhere along with the flat plate.

ive seen those snap off real easy with 12 bars ...and now with a bar you have a cage mounted to it..

too much load for a small piece of aluminum.

great cage overall tho.

ive had my mxd cage for a few monthes.
pancaked a few stoppies, a couple bail outs on seat standers and the cage is as straight as when i got it. (i know cause i just took it out to paint my bike)
