StuntLife is Changing With the Growth of The Sport

Five months ago StuntLife became the online home for many of us. In that time period we have seen tremendous growth in our membership here as well as in our sport. As we work to spread the good word about our sport, all of our related sites grow. This is a positive effect of our hard work here. The more advanced the riding becomes, the more people are being turned onto the sport. Someday we hope to be large enough that we can be on TV, in the X-Games, traveling the country, and have pro riders traveling on tours with big corporate sponsors paying the bills. This can all come in time. The problem is that if want to grow and expand into mainstream America, we need to act more professional.

When the StuntLife forums came to be, we were just a small tight-knit community of people who all shared the same passion for riding and stunts. Times have changed and our small core group of stunt riders is being watched by the thousands of vistors we get every day. They look at us from the outside and can see our world as we type it and by the pictures we have posted here. We need to work on our professionalism.

As a site that is dedicated to supporting the sport, we feel that StuntLife should be setting an exaple of professionalism in the industry to try and attract a greater audience and not be labeled so negatively. To do this, we need to under go some minor adjustments of our online lives. This comes in the form of new rules. Just like any other major website out there has, we need rules and guidelines to keep us all on track and reach our goals.

These changes are being implemented here now and will be enforced by the StuntLife Team.

1) No nudity on the website. Pictures of females and bikes will be posted in the CHICK PICS forum.
2) Flaming , bashing, belittleing, ridiculing, etc other members is not allowed. Too much of this has been going on unmoderated and brings a negative vibe onto the site.
3) Avatars will have no nudity, ****, or other questionable material in them. If you dont change them, we will just disable the avatar ability for you.
4) Moderators are here to assist and help where ever they can. They have alot to do and part of thier resonsibility here is not to have people talk back to them and flame them. Try and show some respect for what they are doing here.
5) NO BUSINESS ADVERTISING HERE. If you would like to advertise your product or company here at StuntLife please contact the webmaster and both parties can work out an advertising agreement. This also means links to purchase your products in your signatures as well.

If you need any clairification of these rules. Feel free to reply to this thread. Thanks everyone for understanding!

Very well put Shuggs.... and great idea. I agree with all/most of your statements. I look forward to the hightened professionalism here at Stuntlife.

The only question I do have is about the rule of Advertising. Advertising a video, website, or product only assists the growth within our industry. Having "your" link on "our" website is highly beneficial to you and more importantly beneficial to the growth of this sport. We help YOU on our website and in return you should help US.... a partnership deal in other words. This partnership should be created with all good intentions and strickly used to help revolutionize this growing sport. Currently, Stuntlife has no 3rd party companies paying for any Advertising space. I guess what I'm saying is.... your rule about advertsing would be understandable if companies were actually paying for advertising space. People taking advantage of free space would be unacceptable and unfair to your customers but in the current situation I don't see that as an issue.

Again, this is your board.... and it's your rules but maybe you should think about that rule. Or maybe even think about the possibilities of occupying advertising space on your site.

Well put.

I mean with this advertisng rule in effect we can not even post a link to our website because by going to the website the person can purchase a video or clothing or whatever.

So I can not support my friends by putting a link in my signature to there site because there site sells thier products?

Like bri said shuggs, its your site, but the advertising thing may do more harm than good.

I beleive you have misunderstood... You are stunt groups... You are not a motorcycle dealers or competing companys..

There are MANY people who have created accounts here who are dealers at BIKESHOP INC. or whatever and they make posts here just to advertise their shop and online store and advertise for free. I also sell motorcycle parts, have a website and online store, why should I allow other dealerships to come here and advertise for free. Not a smart business move now is it? I am working on my paid advertising campaign here but it is not yet implemented.

About shirts and videos, dude you are a stunt group! Yes sell your stuff!! But if you are just an employee of a clothing company or you have a website that sells t-shirts, I do not want that to happen. Someone wants a stunt related t-shirt...I make and sell them.... I want them to buy from me! Why would I want my competitors to advertise on my website and take my sales? I dont!

If someone wants a Core6 shirt... I dont sell em... thats a specialized product and you need your money as well to keep your stunt team business in operation. The advertising has nothing to do with any stunt teams.

Do you understand now?

First of all Shuggs, I respect what are you doing!!!

Second, #2 really needed to be put in place....but don't let it be a mute rule, make sure those mods are on top of each thread and "lay the smack down" so to speak when needed and OFTEN.

Thirdly, #3 bums me out cause I know so many of the people on STUNTLIFE know me only by my avatar. But I have complied with your rule and removed my sex avatar.

Fourth, #5 No business advertising. This one is going to be hard to swallow for most of the users here simply because so many people have their sponsors in their signature. But I can see why you have to "cover your ***/CYA" on this one cause if someone has that business in their sig, it implies that STUNTLIFE is affiliated somehow.

I support your effort to regulate STUNTLIFE 100%

and now back to your regularly scheduled program...

Point of clarification Shuggs, what about say for example Triple Xtreme. Sha-Sha shoes is one of their sponsors, so does this mean that Triple Xtreme can have a Triple X link but not a Sha-Sha Link in their sig?

that rule (rule #5) is not for sponsors as my understanding, but for those who have a competing business that post here and use this site to draw customers away from shuggs' online store. For example say xyz extreme has sponsor 123 that sells product x. For them to post sponsor xyz here is part of the reason shuggs started this forum (to help the teams have a place to grow) but if business abc posts here to pull people to there site (when they are basically selling the same products/services as stuntlife) without paying shuggs for an advertising position (lets remember shuggs has asked the teams to pay for there place here so its not wrong to ask the same from those who are using this site for purely financial gain) is not only b.s. its also going to, in the long run, remove us from having a home here at stuntlife. Lets face it shuggs has footed or bill for a while now to help the sport but certain people have not only tried to take advantage of that but also flat out used it as a way to STEAL BUSINESS FROM SHUGGS AND THAT MY FRIENDS WHERE I COME FROM DESERVES A SHUT DOWN!!!! My take on it is, simply put, use this for a place to get ur teams recognized and a place to show ur sponsors that they are getting exposure but, do not use it as a place to take food out of Greg and Nadines mouth because beyond it being wrong and stealking it would be flat out disrespectful to the guy who (lets face it) took a pastime/sport and helped make it a family!
exactly... thanks

As much as it is fun amongst ourselves to jake around and talk with our "ghetto slang"... this does nothing to promote oursleves or our sport. So when a teams sponsors or a potential advertiser on here checks out the forums, they hopefully wont be scared away by our fun and goofiness which can be seen as negative to the outside crowd looking in.

Businesses want to promote a positive image and not have chances of being looked down upon (like we are much of the time) so with these changes maybe we can get some more businesses wanting to come into our world and spend some money and give us a chance.

Thanks everyone for your support!
