Having trouble loading Stuntlife???

Did you know that the average page on SL is around 800kb with all of the new super-heavy ads??

Then on top of that there's threads with imbeded photos and attachments.

Can someone tell who's in charge of the site's maintenance that they need to spend 30 minutes in Photoshop or Fireworks putting all of the images on a diet.

stunt rags ad is 28kb

I opened it up in paint then saved it, there was a little lose of quality but not noticeable (its an ad, if people want it they will click on it regardless of the quality) and after re-saving it, it was 9kb.

the full throttle ad.. 40kb, went in paint, saved, not much quality loss... now 4kb

the 50 stunt ad, about 9kb, re-saved it now 5kb

the only one that is as small a file size as possible is the moto-heaven one

now if only the webmaster could do that, I assum the pages would load faster for people...

it dosent matter much to me cause im on cable

Re: Having trouble loading Stuntlife???

well sometimes you might find difficulty in loading a page or website not because the pages themselves are over worked with graphics, but for this site, considering the traffic, sometimes you may experience the server lagging in communication because traffic can get heavy.

Even if a page was less then 100k in size, with enough traffic and active users you have here, from time to time you will experience in slow page loading. Its one of the cons from running a discussion board the bring so much outside traffic.

Unless you’re experiencing this issue every time, then maybe you’re running on a modem? Majority of internet users are now using DSL/CABLE/T1 connection, so website load issues can mostly be put in the past unless the site itself is being hosting in a very poorly equipped server.

Just some factors to consider. I would guess your load experience here is probably from occasional sever slowing down for a minute or two dealing the heavy traffic the site brings.

Hmm, well there must be something not quite right with it, because the Aussie motorsport site www.fullboost.com.au get a ludicrous amount of international traffic a day and although still being a little heavy, loads quite fast

then the answer to your original question would be the server.

more traffic, heavier websites need a strong enough server to push speed of the site and supply the demand of viewers.

alot of factors, but you get the idea. But general those are the general things you look at.

you could get even more into it, and look at how the site structure and hack codes that go into the software used to run SL. Some Hacks can stress Php load time dramatically when searching for information.

but does it really matter to explain it?

it is what it is, if it takes you time to load it from time to time, I'm sure its worth it, you do enjoy coming here I would hope.

its late time for me to go to bed.

Boxer, I notice you are in Australia. Comparing a US site to an Australian site is not fair, I always get slower loads from overseas sites. I personally have no problems with Stuntlife load time except for the occasional server load issue.
